I just searched for another posting and it didn't come back with anything so..

I went to Sears to look for a new TV or two and saw a demo of the new format costing about 3500.00.

46" Sansung I think and a 3D Samsung player were demoing "Monsters Vs. Aliens".

The glasses might be more too BUT.......They worked and were very comfortable.

THAT WAS THE MOST AWSOME TV EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE TO DATE.

The 3D effect was holographic to the MAX! Crystal clear and magical.

Man I wish I was younger to live through the next 50 yrs. of TV technologies.

I AM VERY , VERY IMPRESSED to say the least. That's all

Tony the stuned..

Haven't seen these yet...but when they get to Dream-0-vision that will be something. I still think my dreams are better than most movies and their effects....live a full and creative life and your inner world will slam 'reality' and consciousness any day of the week. And I don't have to wait for Dream-D before I depart. lol

I am joking withya a little.

i haven't been exposed to this new 3d experience. not at any store, nor at the movie theater. part of me is afraid to. i know the better 3d projectors won't come down in price for quite a spell. but they are out there. it will only make me want for what i cannot have. ...at present...

I will also stay away from this, as I always have to have the newest toys, lol. I "saw" one at BB and walked the other way, lol. I am perfectly happy with what I have now, and don't need to be opening my wallet anytime soon. The good news is I am covered by my PS3 atleast, it will do 3D playback when Sony releases the update for it.

Its funny you mentioned Sears....My local Sears store has an electronics area that is far better than most Best Buys that Ive seen. The guy that manages that section is also pretty sharp, I bought my Panny their several years ago. Id give them my business again.

The price for this tech will have to come way down to get on top of my priority list. You can look at the menu but you don't have to buy. I thought it was cool enough that everybody should go check it it out to see SDA on a TV..:D

That's my comparison to what I saw as to what I heard when I heard Polks' SDA speakers.

    How old are you?
I think to get this image, you'll have to wear something for many years to come. It's not for everyday TV but for speacial events,I think it will take off.

The way I worded my last post might be read in a different way than I intended.
I was asking, if your young, you might be alive when they get more advanced. As for me , middle aged, I don't think I will live to see that day.

Well, looking at the manual for my TV, I see it's 3-D ready. Just hook up the external hard ware and glasses and enjoy. Good, I'm part way there.:D

I've seen a couple 3D sets now. They don't really impress me. Not enough to make me want to ever go out and buy one.

I'll never sit around my house wearing 3D glasses though...It simply isn't ever going to happen.

I just bought a regular TV BUT it happens to have the 3D hook up.I had no idea it did. They didn't say it for selling purposes or I missed the little tags they have on displays running down the sides of them. I'll never use it probably.
The TV it replaced had a radio AND transmitter in it. It would send a signal to my stereo like some devices use and I never used it much when I brought it into the house.

That Samsung set-up is total badass. I have seen multiple other 3D demos up and none of them impressed me. Until I saw the Samsung at Best Buy. It was vastly superior. Is it using a different technology than it's competitors?

I've seen them and just can't bring myself to buying into this technology. I think it's more a gimmick than anything else. I mean do we really want to watch everything in 3D, basketball, the news, etc. I don't think I'm going with this one, matter of fact I won't. It is cool technology and I thought Avatar and Alice in Wonderland were fun in 3D. For my everyday use, can't see it.

I feel the same way, but that Samsung set almost has me changing my mind. It didn't feel like a gimmick at all.

I just got back from a Museum in Beijing that uses the latest 3d glasses with the electronic shuttering or whatever they call it. The effects are OK...but not that impressive.

Another question...years ago it was said that a certain percentage of the population just can't 'see' 3D...I think it was 5 or 10 percent? What about them and this new tech? Is there anything about this new tech that would overcome their problem?

How do people with color blindness see traffic lights? Sorry about those who can't see 3D. It LOOKS great so anybody who wants to watch things in 3D IF they're recorded that way should get into the entertainment a little bit more.
Those that don't like it will ALLWAYS have the 2D version to enjoy to.I hope they don't force it on the general public. The Maltese Falcon in 3D...not.
But the African Queen would be interesting.

It's like FM or AM, CD or Vinyl, It's only a choice right now. I just can't seeing ALL TV going the way of 3D. Like electric cars, just another new choice for us consumers. When I go back to buy another TV, I'll be putting those glasses on, turning them on and get amazed again I'm sure.:D

Now I'd bet all I own against GOLD that the GAMING industry is about to jump all over this new 3D technology with interactive glasses.;)

Or just go buy a book and use your imagination.
But if you just read news and history, no imagination needed.

TV is not evil, 3D is not evil.

If people want to live a simplistic life, good for them.(quakers for example)
But they do not try to ridicule the technological world they live in, do they.

I'm pretty sure that Conradicles is just pulling your leg. We all use PCs, cell phones, some have ipods of zunes....and very few here don't have an HDMI on the back of their AVR and TV and a BDP as well. We all 'suffer' from upgraditis, No.

I for one am glad that 3D TV is 'just' coming out. Because my set will last for another 3-5 years...and I'll be ready for whatever is around then at a lower price! Sounds good to me.

I was just trying to add som humor with the 1D post.
3D TV is not something I would buy, but I do think the technology is very cool.
My guess is that it will not really take off and we won't be talking about it for long. But, I also thought HD DVD would beat BluRay...

I read something about that too. Something about favoring one eye to see with. Wonder if it affects their regular depth perception as well...seeing the world in 2D...driving...

if so, it would be hard to imagine that the new technology would improve things...
