I like your idea Hangon. Like it alot! Keep us posted on your project with pictures if possible as I am in the beginning stages of building one myself and will do the same.

Another Polkie is letting me demo some RTA8T's this weekend, and if I like the way one of them sounds as a center after calibrating my rig, I am going to buy them. My guess is that I will like the sound of the 8T.

The 15TL would be even better, but I am afraid it would be too big for my small H/T.

Larry, by all means if Hangon wants them both sell them to him. I'll be fine.

Sorry for the slight derail, but I am getting exited about building a center!
    Best regards,
    Eric.

Yes, true in most modern theater set up's.
When 90% of the sound is the center, why not
have 100% the same drivers as the Main's.
I have listened to all Polk's (owned CS350LS), Paradigm, Magnepan,
B&W, nothing blends. I found them be to bright in most cases and Shoe Box mono tone in others.
The only Center I found is the McIntosh at $12,000.
So the only option is to Custom make one, power handling is a major issue. I am feeding up to 300 watts to the Center and 600 watts to my 2.3tl's.
I have a huge Family room so that little Center Channel is not a option.

Face or others, do you think it is still a good idea to mount the tweeter slightly above the drivers if an RTA speaker is used as a center with the stock crossover?

You're taking an array, mounting it on it's size, and moving the tweeter's placement...I'm not sure how good that would sound. Even with leaving the tweeter in place, there will still be some issues around the crossover frequency. I have something in the works, I just hope I can put something together in a timely manner.

Thank you for selling me the drivers from your RTA 15tl's.
Hope to see them soon, so I can get to work on my new center.
    Hey Face,
The crossover spec's are very similar to the 4-Stereo drivers on my 2.3tl's. This is the closest speaker I have found to match my 2.3tl's....
Take a look...Only major difference is the MW6503 vs MW 6510 Drivers...Do you know what the major difference is??????
I will have extra drivers if anyone has an interest in building a serious center with me.

Wow, that's going to be a beast of a center. Nice work, can't wait to see it with the veneer.

Looking good!! That is a monster of a center.

I could not wait..I installed it before finishing it for a demo...
The sound is so amazing and matches my 2.3tl's perfectly with
a perfect seamless transition from left to Center to right.
Last but least I am going to rebuild all the crossovers.

    Special thank to TOOLFORLIFEFAN.

Did you use the exact drivers from the RTA15 i.e. did you use one high resonance and one low resonance passive.

How are they working with that speaker design ??? Just wondering since one of the passives is on the back of the 15.

    awesome job hangon.

why not just take a 15 and put it on it's side. i must say that your cabinet looks better.

    just wondering.

I used both High Resonance Passives to match the 2.3tl's,
I assumed the 2.3tl's used the High Resonance Passives.
Well any way this Center is so far the best sounding I have
    heard, except the McIntosh:D
I have driven this baby to the maximum, no distortion and
gives seamless transition from Left to Right in surround sound settings.
