Need a good wall mount for 65" plasma

gmcmangmcman Posts: 1,054
I trust the judgement here, what I'm trying to find is a well-built wall mount that I can tilt downwards if needed just a few degrees. Would like it to be as close to the wall as possible and even offer a forward movement if needed to access the cord.

Would be great if I can extend from the wall to make connections, then retract while keeping an almost flush profile.

I'm going to research this also but any ideas are certainly welcome.

Unfortunately no. I went to best buy and found a very nice Sanus full motion mount.

    https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sanus-premium-series-full-motion-tv-wall-mount-for-most-42-90-flat-panel-tvs-black/5463302.p?skuId=5463302

Come to find out, most stands, including that Sanus and the one you linked, only go to the 24" wide bolt pattern, and not the 27" spread of the heavier plasmas.

    A 65" plasma is a heavy beast. What brand/model?

You'll have better luck searching for a suitable mount, if you know the VESA spec of the mounting holes - basically, the distance between them in millimeters (width x height).

    65" Panasonic VT60 ... more specifically TC-P65VT60

What gets me is the Sanus stand is for TV's up to 90" and 150 lbs, mine is 65" and 92 lbs.

I understand that's heavy for today's 65" sets, but I dont see how it would be an issue for each end to reach out an extra 1 1/2"...shame since it's a very heavy duty mount.

You have to look for 500mm x 300mm vesa mount, which now days is an odd size

That beast is over a 100lbs

Both Peerless and Sanus have search engines on their websites that will find mounts comparable for your set.

For instance the set mentioned above, had quite a few choices.

I'm also hoping to get one that's full motion which limits my choices.

Ok, I did find one on the Sanus site, the VXF-220. Sorry to make it sound like such a chore...lol, I honestly didn't think it would be a big issue finding one at the local box stores.

    According to ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/television/cutsheet/tc-p65vt60_cutsheet.pdf, it's 684 x 300. 92.6 lbs. Search Amazon. I've used the VideoSecu MW380B3 with success.

I have a 65 or 60 ST30. I gave up on the forward movement option and just went with one with tilt.

    Makes finding one easier.

I guess the only reason for the full motion, is to retract for 2ch listening. The location for the 2.3 TL's and the tv are limited if I'm going to use the long walk. Makes it difficult to access the cables, etc when the TV is on the stand. If I can get the face of the TV about 4" off the back wall instead of about 15, will make a huge difference.

Also, bringing it out flush with speakers for off-axis viewing will be good.

Thanks for all the tips so far.

I wound up using the cheap https://www.bestbuy.com/site/rocketfish-tilting-tv-wall-mount-for-most-32-70-tvs-black/9881868.p?skuId=9881868 to hang my 65VT50. It was just wide enough and doesn't leave the set sticking out too far from the wall like most full motion mounts tend to.

This is with a few degrees of down tilt.
