VTL TL2.5 Tube pre amp

I have been looking into adding a pre amp to my 2 channel setup. I like the idea of a tube pre amp combined with a solid state amp.

My current setup is a Marantz SR7005 and PS Audio 200C power amp. They are feeding fully modded RTA 11t’s.

I found a VTL 2.5TL for sale somewhat locally, it appears to be in good shape. Have yet to audition it. After some
light searching of the web it seems to be a solid choice.

Does anyone have any experience with this pre amp? Any clue to how this would benefit my ears?

Asking price is just shy of $1,000. Is there other/better options in this price range?

    I'll second F1NUT's comment, you may want to search out some nos tubes for it too in case the ones in there are junk or bad. Brent Jesse would be a good place to start.

    I had the VTL 2.5 pre many years ago and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend picking one up.

    using one now, highly recommend VTL..

    I'd say anytime you can find a Joule/VTL/VAC PRE under a grand....run...don't walk.
