  Anywhere other than the turntable and they were just too revealing for me. Overly bright, almost shrill sounding. But from turntable to phone stage I love them.

  Another option you can consider is a solid state amp and a tube pre-amp, that's what I do. I have a Krell KAV-2250 amp, solid state, paired with Dared MC-7P. I love it.
