I think some of it has to do with the increased driver/tweeter height when compared to the height of the listening position possibly. Room size too.1 · -

I'm betting real wood means real wood veneer on the MDF the speakers are made out of. That is how my SDA 2's were. My early CRS's were veneered also.1 · -
