Are you running all three channels? -
F1 can be a bit...... tempermental but the guy knows his stuff. I think manman is right, some of the elders are getting kinda irked by how much press Emotiva gets here, and think that it should be taken to the Emotiva forum, but hey advice is advice right? I trust the guys here that I "know" rather than go to a strange new forum and ask advice there. Congrats on the amp, have heard nothing but positive things about the Emo's and am considering an XPA-5 myself.HT Rig

Have youy tried bi-amping two channels to see the difference between
400 watts and 200 watts? -
I swear you guys are killing me every time someone places an order or gets theirs... i'm getting weaker by the minute. can't you all just stop talking about it and leave my money safe!? (no, self control is not an option):p

no,i will need help on how to do that. -
Congrats on your purchase. If I weren't a traveling college student I'd have an XPA-3 or at least an UPA-7 in a heart beat. So many positive reviews and the people that get them can't shut up about them (I mean that in a good way
). As for those that choose to post negative comments, don't let them rain on your parade. Enjoy your new toy, I'm sure it'll definitely be worth the money. -
What Hi-Fi? gave the Yamaha (British version) 863 the Product of the year in their 500-1000 pound category. They liked it better than the Onkyo TXSR-876. Which is hard to believe because the Onkyo is more powerful, and far heavier.
But they loved the sound! So the 863 may be a great value for the money...
Enjoy.

It was mentioned above that he was running everything through a new Yamaha RXV-863. I was merely responding to that as I'd read the reviews on this model. There is very little difference between the Brit and American models.
Why the Question marks?

He only has three channels so it wouldn't work for both speakers. Just was wondering if he tried it to hear a difference. -

bi-amping doesnt actually double the power like that as opposed to popular belief.Pro-ject RM-9.1 w/ Grado Sonata 1 -> USP-1 -> RPA-1 -> Vienna Acoustics Mozart Grands -

If he's bi-amping off the xpa-3 he'll be giving 200 watts to the low end (channel 1) and 200watts to the mids and highs ( channel 2) which is a GRAND TOTAL of 400watts. Different than Bi-amping off a receiver.
I wasn't telling him to run it that way just asked if he did any messing around. He only has 3 channels you know. -

lol it still doesnt work like that. Try pushing 200 watts to your tweeter....then watch them explode..
By means of simple math your right, but again passively bi-amping will NOT double your wattage.
Besides the amp is not automatically pushing 200 watts to the speakers. It depends on what your speakers need at that given moment in a song or movie. Tweeters will never need 200 watts to be driven, they just dont need it. Also the internal speaker crossover is something your looking over.
The only way to really achieve what your thinking is through Active bi-amping dealing with external crossovers.Pro-ject RM-9.1 w/ Grado Sonata 1 -> USP-1 -> RPA-1 -> Vienna Acoustics Mozart Grands -
