Polk Subs compared to Velodyne.

Thinking of purchasing a new sub. I have seen good prices on some of the higher calibre polk subs but have never heard them. I already have a velodyne sub and was thinking of adding a second sub to the mix. Are Polk subs as good as their speakers? would you buy over a similarly priced velodyne?

    Now I have seen some Sunfire subs. They are Really Nice and are pretty nicely priced as well brand new. If i could find a used one for the right price, I'd jump all over it or maybe i will get a polk, since they made a believer out of you.

    Haven't dealt with Velo's but I can tell you the micropro's hit hard. Blends great with music and great for HT.

    I shopped for a while and did a lot of listening of various brands of subs about 7 years ago. I personally think Velodyne has the clearest and smoothest sound for the money. At the time I purchased the CT120 and have been happy all the way. This thing is so powerful that it will vibrate the pictures off the walls. I keep the power at about one third and that is plenty for my ears. I could probably turn it up if it were at the other end of the house.

    I just replaced my six year old PSW 450 with a new sub. I ordered the DWS 400 not enough for the size room.
    I was able to audition the DWS 500 and 600 then the Velodyne line.
    I ended up with the Velodyne DLS-4000R the bass is so tight and accurate.
    I have had the speaker three days it is coupled with A3's in front A1's back and an A4 center.
    Do yourself a favor and sample the offering in this price range you will go with the V...

    I have a CT 120 and the new Polk subs are in a completely different league. my was put to shame by the 8" MicroPro 2000. Velo makes great subs, but I'm just saying we aren't comparing apples to apples.

    Edit... I'm a dumb ****. Just looked at my sig. i have the CHT12, but I think they are similar just a different generation

    Honestly, for subs, I would go for a SVS/HSU/eD/tSc sub however the OP didnt mention budget, room size, listening habits, etc.

    not to TC, but with that money (MSRP of $1700 plus shipping), add a couple hundreds dollar and you can get the Elemental Designs A7-900 (MSRP of $2200 including shipping) which is probably gonna kill every sub out there. If you can get it for cheap though, then it's a different story
