Ok so I have heard several different things on diff sites. Im about to buy my second emotiva xpa3 and add towers for my rear speakers. This will leave me with an extra channel to use on one xpa3. I have room in my stand below my 50" plasma to put side by side csi5's. Whats your thoughts on this?

Interesting--you'll have to have a lot of space for 2 CSi5's. I just wonder if the center channel stage might end up being too wide?

Keep in mind that on the XPA-3 with 3 channels driven its 200wpc, where you can get 225wpc when only driving 2 channels. So its not always a bad thing to have an unused channel on an amp.

What are you main speakers? Perhaps you can try them temporarily as your center channel speakers (alone) just so see if you like the difference or not before you buy another CSi5?

I ran two csi a6 and it sounded wider and better IMO . I asked the same question and started a thread awhile back with a lot of people saying they haven't tried running two centers. If your only reason is you have a extra channel not being used then I would have to say no then. To me one center sounds too narrow and two center speakers helped out alot. I've seen some people run two bookshelf speakers for centers. Not having a narrow front sound stage must have been important to some one because a lot of receivers have the option to widen the sound stage by given partial sound to the front left and right speakers.

    Hope this helps.

I think if I wanted to try this I would go with one above and one below the TV. IIRC I have seen some older (Pro Logic) AVRs with speaker outs for two centers. I think it would depend on many things as to if it was a benefit. What the centers are, what the front speakers are and room characteristics. But these are just speculation as I have never tried it.

Thanks for the input. I dont have the option to put a csi5 on top. And besides it would look funny. Two fit perfectly in my stand. It was just a thought. Maybe I will just keep one channel open then use that amp to run my rti150's the extra wattage boost sure cant hurt.
    Thanks everyone

I'd rather use one larger appropriately matching center channel, than two smaller ones.
Generally one center channel is better than two, because of comb filtering characteristics.

Of course, if you want to run two centers and have the capability, you won't damage anything. It's your system and we won't mind if you buy more center channels :)
