I just bought a new house and want to purchase a new tv.
I have been to 5 or 6 stores and just leave out of begin frustrated.

here is what I want

40-52 inch
lcd or plasma(the house has high ceilings and lets in a lot of light)
1000-2000(sorry I am in the 1000-1,500 range, but will go to 2000 for the right deal or TV)

I was thinking Vizio cause of the price, but have heard some nightmares.

How important is the 120 refresh rate?

I watch a lot of sports and movies.

I have heard great things about Sharp.

i was thinking about this one.

Thank you for your help. The only problem is a very bright room.
I was told that should avoid DLP.

What is it about the visits/demos that you didn't like?

The TV's today good. If it was the picture, you weren't satisfied with, that is because tv's on display are not calibrated.

You mentioned that your room lets in a lot of light. See if you can locate a store that have a display you're interested in, and ask if you could play around with the contrast, brightness and backlight settings. The higher settings can get very bright.

I am very happy with my Sharp - 46D64U, it is the 46" version of the 52" you linked to. I have had no problems or issues with it.

You are really looking at a good time, I know it is frustrating, but I would suggest you pick 3 or 4 that you really like and would be happy with and wait for the day after Thanksgiving. My Sharp was on sale for about $1200, at the time it was 50% off! So I would get your group of 3 or 4 "A" grade TVs, ignore price, and look to see which is the best deal on Black Friday. Certainly "deal" is subjective. But keeping in mind some of these TVs will be 50% off that day, you may be able to afford a TV that is normally out of your price range.

I have not noticed any blurring or anything watching sports, but HD around here also stinks. The picture is fantastic hooked up to the PS3.

Sony Bravia LCDs are in your price range, check some of those out. I own the 40vl4100 and paid around 1095 for it, excellent screen, no sparklies or what have you. Great set.

The problem is cost, brands, features.

What are you thoughts on Toshiba?

    1,899 for a 52

I will be waiting till black friday!
