I just got an NAD 2400PE THX amp and for now I am running my NAD cd player directly into it. I want to get a preamp and see that there are a ton out there. I cannot afford the new preamps from NAD but I saw that alot of you guys/gals use to have NAD gear once upon a time. What I was wondering is which one you all recommend. Thanks for any insight on this.:)

1700 preamp/tuner was the top of the line - Monitor Series preamp
Then the 1600, 1300 and 1000 (the 1700 and 1600 have remote control)
    Dodd - Battery Preamp
Monarchy Audio SE100 Delux - mono power amps
    Sony DVP-NS999ES - SACD player
    ADS 1230 - Polk SDA 2B
DIY Stereo Subwoofer towers w/(4) 12 drivers each
    Crown K1 - Subwoofer amp
    Outlaw ICBM - crossover
    Beringher BFD - sub eq

Where is the remote? Where is the $%#$% remote!

How much do you plan on spending?

I plan on spending no more than $100.00-$150.00, and only that much if the unit is in excellent condition. Kinda more like seeing what I find by patiently waiting and looking. That is how I ran across the Nad 2400 amp. Right place at the right time.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will add it to the "do some research " list. So far I am considering the NAD 1600 & 1700, Kenwood Basic C-1, and the nOrh ACA 2b. I really like the way everything sounds now with just the NAD cd player and NAD amp hooked together. But I eventually want to do vinyl down the line so I am adding to my system little by little (easier on the wallet this way to).

I have to admit though that I had my cherry popped with this minimalist system. Everything sounded ok/good before with my previous receiver (Nad 7045....old I know but is in excellent condition), so I thought. Man was I not even close. I was listening to music earlier that I have listened to a gazillion times and I found myself sitting there in complete amazement. The hairs on my arms were standing at attention and I got chills. I played the same song like 3 or 4 times and the same thing happened. I am just hoping that whatever preamp I do purchase does not screw with the sound at all or very little. If any of you all that read this have/had any of the preamps mentioned above please by all means share your thoughts. Thanks.

A little out of your range but it looks to be in very good shape and might be negotiable....

I have a NAD C160 matched up with a C270 amp and I am extremely pleased with this setup. I would not hesitate to recommend an all NAD system. For the money the phono section is quite good as well.

I was offered a NAD 7220pe receiver for $50.00. First off, can I use this as a preamp with my NAD 2400 and if so is it as good as going for a dedicated preamp? Is the price ok....tried looking up info. on it but didn't find much except how much power it has.
