I am debating on picking up a used one and wondering if it's worth it or not. I can get one for $1150 shipped with all the updates. Anyone have one?

I had one and sold it. It had horrible lip sync issues, where the audio lagged the video considerably. Many users reported this issue. It had all the current updates. Drove me nuts.

Good price though, I got $1225 for mine about 1 month ago, without the rack mounts that I had sold earlier for $85.

I have one with the latest codecs. I will sell it soon since i have the marantz av8003.
No lip sync issues, sounds ok with music, great with surround sound.

Most reports claim the Marantz sounds much better for music.

I don't doubt that at all, as I have temporarily replaced mine with a Yamaha RX-V1800 as pre/pro, and it sounds much better than the 885 ever did. The 885 seemed to lack detail on the high end.

You can do better for your budget, Pioneer Elite 94TXH and save yourself 300 bucks or so. Extremely detailed, and it also offers so much more than the Onkyo. Check it out. valueelectronics has them onsale for 850 and are authorized dealers.

zero lip sync issues, doesnt run hot, awesome detail in sound clarity, offers internet radio like the denon 3808 and higher models, MCACC for speaker setup and calibration, HDMI inputs, all the HD Decoding and much much more, the 94 is selling for 850 if you go through VE. Best price I have yet to see.

heres a pic of my new Elite 07

Sounds like a nice piece, but it doesn't seem to offer anything more than the Onkyo. Actually seems to offer less, with no Reon upscaling, Audyssey pro, or HD radio.

Course I gave all that up to get rid of lip sync issues, so that's a plus. Is the face plastic?

You dont need Audessey, Pio has MCACC, and it does offer Faroudja chipset for video. I dont use it for upscaling, XA2 handles that for SD DVD. I personally think the Elite will outperform the Onks. I compared both during numerous occassions.

Darla, I currently have a one week old Integra DTC-9.8 for sale, in addition to my three month old Marantz AV8003, and a new in sealed box Integra DHC-9.9.

I used to own a 9.8 I was VERY happy with, but sold to get the new Marantz (cause I bought a Marantz PJ!) The Marantz, while excellent sonically, has some limitations IN MY SYSTEM that the Integra didn't, so I bought another 9.8 two weeks ago. Then my dealer offered me great deal on a 9.9, but only if I bought two.

I never had ANY lipsynch issues with my old 9.8, nor do I with the new one. Don't expect to have any with the 9.9 either. They are actually VERY good pre/pros.

    Sherardp,

Don't mean to derail this thread, but where did you get that IR repeater for the Pioneer?

    Thanks,

    Mike

I use the 4.0 repeater up front in the room, and the terminator in the rear of the room, you can use single CAT 5 cable to connect the two. Then you just plug in your blasters from the terminator to the gear. All my components work flawlessly. Since I use a front PJ setup, I just point upfront toward the screen so it works perfect. You could do the same if you had a closet or gear in another room.

Thanks for the info! Funny, I get the Smarthome mag in the mail all the time, just never seen this in it.:o

    Thanks again!

    Mike

EDIT: BTW, is that LED attached with some kind of double sticky tape? I'm sure it comes already with an adhesive side?
