I've had my Mits HC4900 for about 8 months now and have noticed a green dot when my screen goes dark. Called Mits tech and they said it is just a dust buildup and it needs to be professionally cleaned. I asked about using that compressed air in a can and he said it may make it worse. Anyone have this problem and how was it fixed.
thx.

I found this on the web.

    HC4900

On the left side of the projector (looking from the rear) you will find the air filter (the manual suggests cleaning about once a month), and on the right side, the door for the lamp system. As a result, those ceiling mounting, will not need to unmount the projector to change the lamp, unlike many home theater projectors with the lamp door on the bottom of the projector.

I tried searching the www but couldn't find any solutions.
In the "troubleshooting" section of my manual it states that sometimes "coloured dots" will develope but it doesn't indicate how to fix it.

A green dot as in a green pixel/several pixels or a more like a blob with less defined borders?

    - obviously, the simplest problem will be a dust build up.
    - 2nd worst - stuck pixel on one of the LCD screens.
    - 3rd worst - you got a burn-in on one of the screens (although, this failure mode is usually attributed to DLP based devices).

If it really bothers you and cleaning up the filter and inside doesn't fix the problem, let the tech see it.
