Newbie Questions
I recently went from htib to onkyo 606 and rm6850 5.1 set with 50 inch samsung 1080P LCD and monster power center, i love it, but i want to upgrade the 2 front speakers for a little larger room in basement, and use the existing surrounds for the other 2, any suggestions?

id say bout 1 grand for fronts, i have looked at the 50 series and cs1 center, but would like other opinions, thanks for reply

You can get some great fronts for a grand. Is it going to be used for music, movies or both. Do you want new, used or refurbs.

You're in the same boat that I was in about six months ago. Whatever you do keep in mind that the 606 will not allow you to add an amp (no pre-outs). So be careful to not buy any speakers that need a lot of power. I bought the Rti10's and the 605 was a little underpowered for them. Even now that I have the 875 some people might suggest that I need more power. But at least now I can add an amp if I get the upgrade itch. Be honest with yourself about how much you want to spend before you make any more moves. hmm i didnt know that about the 606, it was a big improvement from HTIB and i love it, but seems something is missing when i listen, i dont hear alot of dialouge and i have calibrated my system with the mic, i was wondering if the center was not good enough, thanks for all the replys and help

i mainly watch movies, no music at all, got it hooked up with my ps3 for bluray use, i forgot to mention this earlier in my set up, sorry. i also like new due to want to know what i am getting when i get it if that makes sense, but i hear alot about the polk store on ebay

If you plan on keeping the 606 I would look into Polk RTI series. You could get the
RTI A5's (fronts)
CSI A4 (center)
RTI A1 ( rear bookshelf)
All for well under $1000. These speakers are very easy to push and the receiver will do just fine. They will sound much better than you RM series speakers.
I had the RM 705 sat. speakers and they sounded pretty good for such a small speaker. -
I tell ya that sounds like a plan then, i also wanted to tell ya the rm series i believe sound very good for the money, i got mine for 199.99 a month ago and with the sub that came with it i was pleasantly surprised and happy, so let me explain my thoughts.
in bedroom i have the onkyo and polks, ps 3 and 50 sammy lcd
livingroom i have 2 Older KLH towers that believe it or not sound and look awsome, they have 3- 6/12 and subs in them.
ps 3 also
xbox elite
wii
60 inch sony
no center or surrounds, so i was going to upgrade the bedroom 3 fronts and use the center and fronts for the basement for surround.

now i know this is going to be asked * why the heck are ya not upgradeing the basement instead of bedroom, well i have a large bedroom and one of them nice beds that adjust up down, harder on one side, tilt and all and i like to do alot of watching in there, i am a diesal technician for GM and when i get home im beat lol hope this helps :cool: -

sorry where did i lose ya? i opologize and what i was saying is the series you described is what i will look into, i also seen you had the rm series also at one time so i replied to that, then sent ya my 2 set ups to help you understand what i was going to do.

Whatever you do make sure you read, read, do a seach, read somemore then buy. I learned the hard way and bought ,bought, read, read, search, sold,sold,sold. LOL

I hear ya there, i have been reading and was also told about them speakers, i would like to find somewhere to audition them, but dont know where in louisville ky, i will search, also im going to learn as i go lol

If you can't find a place to demo I would look into used or refurbs., That way if it's not to you liking you could sell it and not take a big loss.

Oh, I thought his rm6850 was an external amplifier. If not, then, yes maybe not my option.
