Came across this model pioneer for $150 in mint shape.

Is this a worthwhile upgrade from my Onkyo? First impression definitely says yes, as it has pre-outs for all channels, vs. my current Onkyo that has none.

From a processing standpoint, am i going to lose anything significant going to this unit?
I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

Without looking into the specifics of the Pioneer (I have an Onkyo 505 myself and I think your 503 share almost everything with my receiver), I think your Onkyo should have more advanced processing than the Pioneer. On the other hand, I've heard many use the 811 (and its sister, the 911) as inexpensive pre/pro when system building. Personally, I'd use the $150.00 toward a current HT receiver. HT technology changes too fast to be stuck in the past.

Works for me. It was mainly idle curiousity on my part. I'm hoping to be able to get the new Emotiva unit when it comes out. :)

    Thanks for your input!
