I got the SWO-**** with the WPC-Z cover (which costs more than the outler!) Very much worth what I paid. I now have the newer R-1's. VH Audio has them cryo'ed
My friend has a great experience with replacing wall outlet to Oyaide products. I am convinced to upgrade to these outlets in the future... -
But is "just understanding" that up to code? Would an electical inspector allow it? What if after you sell the house and forgot to pass the uderstanding along to the new owner, and they that its a 20A outlet and that is on a 15A breaker-ignoring the wire guage, says' hey I think I should put that on a 20A breaker for my new amp....
If its code, then fine- but if its not...the record should be set right.
It depends on your locality. For example, some places only allow BX cable and you MUST use 12/3 for kitchens and bathrooms.polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves

A friend of mine lives in an older house which when built was somwhat remote-Not sure exactly why but he had is own transformer in the basement with the high voltage lines coming right in.
Hes not an audio enthusiast so I couldn't rell you if that made any difference for him.
Of course it wasn't a fun idea pumping out his basement when it flooded-it wasn't just a measly 120v anymore.
You mean like the Equi-Tech type transformers? They can power any system out there, with transformers ranging form ~7.5amps - 100amps output. -

Not sure what they are.
The wiring coming from the utility poles is High Voltage-If I remember correctly about 7200V not 240v. The transformer in the house then steps it down to the 240v (where normally the pole mounted transformer would handle the step-down).
I grew up in an Apt complex and there were these Electric boxes all over the place. I would imagine it was similar to one of those (I didn't look under the water to see it). I would imagine usiung the high voltage would be the best distributuion method.
When I was there for the flood, the PECO rep indicated the transformer was owned by the property owner, not PECO (as would otherwise be the norm).____________________

I have just replaced a wall outlet with Oyaide SWO-**** Ultimo receptacle and WPC-Z housing/cover. I would have to say I am stunned with their "whatever magic".... Explosion sound experience if you know what I mean. -

I was curious myself, too and gave it a try but did not really believe in the good effect until this morning...
Good luck with yours... -

My friend recommends Oyaide products to me after he replaced his outlets.
He told me good outlets improve video and sound quality in his HT, too.
Good luck with yours...
