What cable should I use (720P projector)

I bought a Mitsubishi HC1500 720P projector and paired with a ATI 4850 video card I want to know the best interconnect cable to buy.

I plan to use my PC for HD sources at first and and perhaps an over the air HD box. so I'm not sure if I should buy an DVI to HDMI cable or a component cable or both. I can get a 25 ft DVI to HDMI cable for around $37 online but I know the ATI card can output 720P over the component adapter so I'm wondering if I should buy a component cable instead. But it also has VGA input, so which one should I use?
Also I plan on buying a Radeon 4850 and later a Blueray Drive so can I use a future sound card to output DD TrueHd and DTS HD via analogue inputs to my Onkyo receiver?

Wow, that will be a cool set-up!
Are you concerned that one connection won't "work"? Or is it the quality that concerns you? If, the latter, I would think that the dvi-hdmi is marginally superior. Nut that is just a guess.MAIN: Polk Lsi9s; Polk PSW505; Lsic (in box); Onkyo SR-875; Parasound 2250; Cambridge Audio 740C; LG BD370

Use the VGA (computer in) port. Very scalable port.

Go with the DVI to HDMI cable so you don't have needless analog to digital conversions.
Also, definitely get your cable from www.monoprice.com// Panasonic AE8000 // Pioneer SC-57 // Polk Audio RTi A9 // Polk Audio CSiA6 //
// Polk Audio FXi A6 // SVS PB12-NSD Subwoofer // Logitech Harmony Ultimate // Pro-Ject Debut III //
// Oppo BDP-103 // Microsoft Xbox One Day One Edition // Sony Playstation 4 1TB SSHD // Nintendo Wii U //

DVI to HDMI, or component. VGA quality tends to degrade over that long of a run.

What card are you using now?
When you pick up the ATI use HDMI.

Monoprice is fine for VGA and HDMI cables."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche -
The Mitsubishi HC1500 and the 1000U are pretty much the same units. Sami, where did you get the data on VGA degrade over long runs? I have heard complaints about HDMI and long runs but not other formats. They said in the article I read on HDMI, that HDMI cables are not certified over long runs because of signal loss and that certified cables @ 50ft were rare.
Thanks,

Have had no problems with my monoprice 50ft cables. I have put many PC's into monitor with long VGA run, every time the picture is very bad. Lots of shadows, and I've tried many expensive cables, not just cheap ones. YMMV but I would not connect the VGA myself. At least with HDMI it either works or it doesn't, nothing in between, so if you have a picture you know it's not of poor quality.

I also recommend monoprice for whatever video cable you buy. Plus, if you end up wanting to use a different style of cable or switch set-up, you won't be out very much money.

Thanks Sami. I have not had any problems with the VGA cable I got from monoprice. I am using it for the Xbox360 with video maxed with no problems, thats why I asked.

Ordered 4 HDMIs from monoprice.com for the low, low price of $19.13 shipped!!!!:eek: That's just stupid low and just tells me how ridiculous the pricing from other manufacturers really is. That price is for three 3 footers and one 6 footer in black."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

Depending on how long the run is, you can get problems with HDMI and DVI cables. Over 20-25 ft, there is considerable signal loss which results in either a softening of the image or all out messed up images.. Audioholics had a shootout and EVERY tested brand failed the extreme test... You can read it here... To all you Monster Cable haters... it was surprising to see that they actually had one of the best performing cables, so sometimes what they sell actually works (at a price premium of course...) -
Seeing that mine are 3ft and 6ft runs, I'm sure that I'll be just fine and in the Audioholics test the Monoprice 6ft'r did fine."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,
