I am considering a Monster Power model MPA2250SS amp to push my RTi12's in the front.
Now I know it is not an exotic name like Adcom or Parasound or the others, but what I am wondering is, is it a high quality unit?
Blast away fellow Polk lovers....
Warm regards from too F*ckin HOT Vegas

Actually, it is a high quality unit. It's a Marsh designed amp, with a hella beefy toroidal transformer for each channel. It will drive the 12's very nicely...

Currently using two 3250's and have absolutely NO plans on ever get rid of them. However, I'd never go out and pay retail for them. If you can get a good discount on it, I'd say go for it... Otherwise there are a lot of better choices in that price range.

You will get ear splitting volume out of the monster amps for even LSi level speakers at only 10W or so on the meters. Yet they are rated at 400W into 4ohms. From experience with LSi15s they tightened up and boosted the bass output as well as improved dynamics and response across the upper registers as well. If the 15s seemed just a bit muddy when I ran them off a denon 3803 receiver, they became tight and sharply focused, crisp, on the 2250. A very nice heavy and long unit with top build quality. Can be rack mounted with the included ears. I'd definitely make sure it's on a solid footing with a rack that can take it as it weighs like 75lbs.

Definitely don't pay retail as Mike said. But these can be found at great discounts if you are patient and resourceful as they are not well known.

One thread is sufficient per question. No need to "spam" the list with the same question. I already answered in your other post.

So, are you letting him off with a warning this time, or are you gonna write him a ticket? ;)

Technically, while its hot by normal human standards, its been a relatively mild summer thus far.

You might know this already, but Ultimate on Rainbow has both the Monster and Parasound if you want to compare the two. Well, you probably cant really compare them, seeing that they are in two different rooms and they're likely to decline requests of A to B direct comparisons for no better reason than having to go through the trouble of rewiring everything.
Do you hear that buzzing noise?

I don't know, with today's offerings I'd grab an Emotiva anyday over a Monster amp. Go check them out...

I was thinking about suggesting these as an option. Since emotiva came around, they've definitely put a new retail floor on really nice amps. And they go for around what you can get the monster amps for on ebay new without the hassle.

That XPA-2 looks like a beast. But the XPA-3, which looks like it should be a 3-channel match to the XPA-2 is strange as the rated watts fall off pretty dramatically the more channels you drive. I'm not saying there still isn't plenty of power or that it might still sound great. But I like having a 2250 and 3250 knowing that the channels are driven more consistently across all 5.

I agree... I noticed that as well with the XPA series, kinda wierd.

I also like the fact that all my LSi's are powered the same, makes me feel better for some reason. I think if I went the "Emo" route, I'd grab the XPA-2 to power my mains, and get the XPA-3 for my center and surrounds.

Yeah, I have my mains on the 2250 and the center and surrounds running off the 3250.

Seems the individual components are better separated almost like individual amps in the monster (3250):

But shared in the emo (xpa3):

My McIntosh does the same thing. It's rated at 80wpc x 6 at 8 ohms, 120 wpc x 6 at 4 ohms. But in bridged mode, it's 275wpc x 3 at 8 ohms, 4 ohms isn't recommended in bridged mode.
