One last run at this
Hey guys, i'm posting about this one last time. I currently have RTiA1's for my surrounds, along with two RTi10's and a CSiA6. I have been thinking about exchanging them at Tweeter for the RTiA3's. I only have till tuesday to decide if i want to do this or not (30 days will be up).
Would it be worth it to go for the RTiA3's? Would they sound better considering i'd have matching Drivers from front to back? Or would it be silly to spend an extra $100 on them?
The RTiA1's are nice and i do like them, they just dont seem to put out to much sound, I know that will very from source to source though. But would the bigger Drivers possibly put out a little more/better sound?
If you were in this situation what would you do?
You guys have been a great help, and i thank you all:).

I'd say if you're questioning the move then you probably should do it. That way you will at least have a matching set of speakers from front to rear. Even if the sound does not improve that nagging doubt will not be there and if you deside to make another move you know the speakers are not in question.

I think the difference between your fronts and center is a bigger issue for me. RTi and RTiA are similar not identical..........HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable

Dennis is right. The surrounds won't make the difference that will.

FWIW I switched my A1s to fronts because they blend better with my CSi3 than the RTi6. I chalk it up to driver size.
As for the surrounds - that seems like an "upgrade" that will make very little difference. You've probably got them crossed at 80 or 100hz anyway.Currently listening to:

I'm returning my Rti10's for the RtiA7's eventually with Tweeters upgrade progam so that issue will be resolved. -
I picked up a pair of the RTiA3's today. And they actually do sound a bit better than the A1's. I seem to get a bit more action out of them and the sound seems to be more full. I've got a little bit longer to compare the two but since i have them now i'll most likely just be sticking with them.
And as for as my fronts, i was looking at the A7's again today trying not to salivate all over myself:o. I love those things, my RTi10's are going back and i'm picking up the A7's definetly, needless to say i'm very excited.
So this is my current system"
RTi10's (soon to be RTiA7's)
CSiA6
RTiA3's
Running off of a Pioneer Elite 92
The Sub hunting will continue very soon as well. Once i figure out what one i want my system will be complete. This is just to much fun for my own good:D. -
With a sub I don't think you would have noticed a difference between the two I couldn't, especially running them at 80 hz and neutral bass. I went through the same issue and my conclusion was without a sub and running all the speakers at FULL/LARGE the CSI A6 and RTI a3 sounded better than the CSI A4 and RTI A1 but when I put a sub in to play I couldn't tell and difference what so ever. The extra money wasn't justified.
Now I wish I did go bigger because I got the RTI A9 on the way. Go figure. If I can't sell my RTI A5's then I am going to keep my system together and use the a9's for two channel in my living room.
What I paid for my A1's and csi a4 new from retail store I could've bought the rti a3 and csi a6 for the same price on ebay new. You live and you learn. One think I can say is that this forum has help me out greatly. -
[Off topic] If you went the 'Bay route, you'd be supporting the blooming gray market and likely getting speakers w/o serial numbers. Only polkdirect can promise you warranty, whether full or time reduced but that's another issue.... Back to the discussion... Metal, you are definitely hearing more from RTiA3's now running them full band (right?), but once there's a sub in your system the story will be slightly different. With my surrounds wall mounted having them smaller also helps visually, but this is me. Have you thought to use RTi10's as the surrounds?

Well i'm actually running my rears small, along with my center. The only thing i'm running large is my RTi10's. Yeah i thought about using the 10's for surrounds but i have no room for that lol. -
if I would have went the bay route with my setup I have now a5, a1, and a4 I would have saved $450

I registered my A1s with Polk without a problem despite paying $152/pr on eBay. Ineligible for warranty? Fine. In the unlikely event that I damage the speakers in the next 5 years, I can spend another $152 for a new pair and pay the street price from a dealer.
As for Polk Direct - that's a whole other story! They've got awesome deals and feedback to back it up. I always check there first if I'm looking for something, then go to another seller or other good deal sources (Amazon's warehousedeals division, for instance).Currently listening to:

Sal, do you plan on using it for HT, 2ch, or both? I heard the 10" version vs. a 10" Velo SPL, the Velo won, hands down. Plus, it won't move around on it's own.Metal, My next sub will be one of these: http://sunfire.com/HRS.htm
