Getting all excited about my TT again

Up until now, I haven't really been into vinyl. I like the sound, but I don't like the "inconvenience" of changing records, keeping them clean, storing them, etc...

But, I came across an album that I like that's hard to find on anything but vinyl, so I got a copy from eBay. This now brings my total LP count up to... two. So, of course, I decided I needed some better gear!

I kept the same TT, because I really don't have the money to replace that. It's a Technics SL-MA1, and seems to be a fairly decent unit (thanks George Grand!). However, I decided that I needed a new cartridge for it... especially after accidentally bending the stylus :o. So, I went and ordered a Audio-Technica ESCAT301 with a shibata stylus (whatever the hell that is...). It'll probably make this TT sound the best it possibly can, anyway.

Oh, and I needed something to dust these two slabs of plastic off, so I got a Hunt somethingorother Mark 6 hairbrush thingy.

Now, I'm truely excited for this stuff to come in and be put through the "vintage sound" test!

    ahhh yes.... i think you'll enjoy vinyl more once you install the new cartridge.

    funny. I just sold a Technics SL-M1 table and shipped it today.. heavy turntable. ;)
