I like my Sony SCD-C2000ES but you might have to pay $250-$300 for it unless you're patient enough to wait for a good deal.
I see them on ebay for about $250 shipped. Crutchfield has a scratch & dent for $299.
Plus it's a SACD player. -
Marantz CC4001, hands down a solid player, very heavy,Cirrus Logic CS4392 DAC and sounds outstanding, google it and you can find them used in your price range. I paired mine up using Signal Cable Analog II ICs, a magic power power cord and it does a superb job. You maybe able to find it new on Onecall in your price range as well.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

If you can find it used, the XCD-88 offered by AV123 is also very good. Usually go for around $200.
Edit: Sorry, didn't see you were looking for a changer. -
If you get a 5-disc changer in your price range, you should expect it to sound worse than the Tosh, then you won't be disappointed if the player meets your expectations.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

I second Sheradp's Marantz suggestion. Good player for the money.
Here's a good un'

I have the Martantz CD5001 (the one to which the link above is provided). I love it. It was a big step up from my old Sony player in sound quality, but it is, after all, a single disc player (this is what I wanted). If you want a 5 disc changer you might consider, as someone posted above, the Marantz CC4001. The same store, Accessories for Less, also has a refurb for the same price,
($190). http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/MARCC4001/MARANTZ/CC4001-5-Disc-CD-Carousel-/1.html
If you want a new one (with a 3-year warranty), it can be had for $330. Just go to Amazon and you'll see that a few authorized dealers (One Call, Sixth Avenue, etc.) carry it and offer free shipping.2 Ch.

Oh, I thought you were looking specifically for a CD 5-disc carosel/changer, not a DVD player. If you're going to go that old, I think that any reputable brand (at that price) would be fine. I had a Sony CD player that I bought for $100 in 1993 and its still working fine. I just replaced it with the Marantz, but there were no issues whatsover with the Sony. If you just need a DVD player go for it.
But if you want a 5-disc changer, I'd still consider the Marantz CC4001 (mentioned above). Its a little pricier ($329 brand new) but you get a 3-year warranty with it, just in case anything goes wrong.2 Ch.

Or you could go with that refurb for $190 (though I think the warranty is reduced to one year or something)2 Ch.
