Peerless tweeter

Part of the ongoing listening room cleanout. Older Peerless dome tweeter (I'm pretty sure, feel free to correct me) that I've had for a while. Don't think I'll be owning a speaker needing one of these, so time to sell.
Looks good overall. Dome has some lint, front panel has a few marks, back of the panel has some corrosion where I think a foam gasket on the cabinet sat. Measures 7.6 ohms on a Fluke 87 multimeter. If it doesn't work you get your purchase price back.
$25 plus shipping, Paypal only. Would trade for DDR2 800MHz PC memory or a dual 4800+ AM2 heatsink.

Bump. Anyone need one of these things?
-
I've been pondering grabbing it as a spare, John...
-
how come it don't have a hole?PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
Vancouver, Canada Sept 30th, 2012 - Madonna concert  -
prolly gen-u-ine Peerless KO10DT rather than a Polk pull (or Polk open stock). Polk added the hole (or Peerless did it for them as the OEM) to virginal Peerless silk domes. Not quite sure why (there're multiple opinions opined around this forum)... I am guessing something to either break up standing waves on the dome, or to alter Fs.
-
I don't know enough about Peerless history to answer that, but this wasn't a Polk pull. Might have been from a Cizek?
-
Yes.
-
I own Polk Model 10's and mine do NOT have the whole. John MA, I will take it off you hands.

Early Polks indeed were not holy (holey)... I have an early pair of Model 10s sans holes (now that you mention it).
-
I hooked it up to a signal generator and swept from 1600-20,000 Hz. Sounds like it works just fine. I can't guarantee that it'll bring new dimensions to your piano music, but for "Theramin Jam '73" you should be all set.

Bigyank, PM will be sent shortly... -
I just picked up a pair of Monitor 7b's from CL. One of the Peerless tweeters is out and the guy who sold them to me might help me cover the cost of a new one. Still have this one?
-
John in MA, if this gentleman needs it, give him first dibs please. I was only getting this as an extra.

RoamnGeo, I sent an email to you through the board system. If you don't get it post here and let me know.

Looks like his seller found a replacement. Still available.

Hello, need to jump in here. I have SDA-1B's and have read where people swap out the silver looking tweeters for the older black silk domes. Any opinions on this, and can they still be purchased? All responses greatly appreciated.:)
-
I'm surprised candylicker hasn't jumped on this thing.

He's interested, he is just waiting for some minimum wage dude at the electronics surplus store what cap value he needs... -
You guys are funny.

Maybe this modfication will work, probabley not but you never know. That is a deck screw in a high performance cap, I think its a cap but may be a resistor, it does not really matter. The key is the silver coated safety pin. I can hardley wait to put the passive back in my 10's because it should sound great. I tried a similar thing with my tweeters and its great.

I haven't followed SDA-1B stuff, but the upgrades I'm aware of are using the new Polk RD0194 silk domes.
Peerless is still available. Will go on eBay if no one here is serious.
And not that I don't appreciate good humor, but take the CL35 discussion out of my thread. -
Sorry about that but cound not resist.
I may be able to find a peerless tweeter for you, i gotta check and see how many I have that work. Give me a day or two, ok?

Oh well John I gues not

Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm trying to sell a tweeter.
-
Bump, will go on eBay soon. Need this stuff gone.
-
One more time...
-
A little bit. Aluminum oxide, might have been in a basement before I got it. Not sure.
-
Funny my 7B's had the same white caked on. It must be ferrofluid leaked out over time?
I wonder if that was the beginning of their demise. Anywho, I still need at least one holy peerless if anyone has one kicking around. Thank you. -
So John,
Did you ever get rid of that Peerless? I know it's been quite a while. Thanks
Niles -
The white caking is the aluminum mounting plate corroding. Must be a chemical interaction with something in the cabinet materials.
Sorry, the tweeter's been gone for almost a year. -
Might want to check these guys for peerless replacement https://www.midwestspeaker.com/onlineshopping.asp You can get them in 4 or 8 ohm.
