PC video cards vs. PS3

I've been out of gaming for a while now and want to get back into it, but don't want to get into consoles.
Always been a pc gamer, and am trying to find out if/ when video cards will be equal to the resolution of PS3?
Thanks

Cool & thanks. I'm looking at the Nvidea? gt 8800 It doesn't seem that expensive- compared to what the high-end cards were going for a cpl. of years ago.

Nvidea would be a good choice im still using a 6600 GT and it looks better than any console.

^ +1. a pair of 8800GT SLI if your motherboard support OR 8800GTX if you have bigger screen. You could play any games with high resolution. I think you won't probably need to upgrade for a year or two.

Anybody know IF there's gonna be another card coming out B-4 May? As I've said, been out of gaming for a while, and can't remember the turn around time.

Well evga just announced the 9600, will probably be a higher end card in that series before too long. The amd 3750 x2 is also getting good reviews

I ws checking out the BFG 9600 gt at BB today, and it's not SLI. Not that really matters right now, but IF I want to upgrade later, like adding 2nd card, then....
Oh well. I'll make a decision soon.
