the newer model (the s2) is going for 1600 the older one for 1300.

any ideas, suggestions.

200.7s are identical between the two. If you are considering REF50 and REF50S2, then it would worth the extra dough. not on the 200.7
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

IIRC, they're identical. This is only true for S1 vs S2 amps, not the rest of the B&K line.

I think the S2 amps use a bigger toridial transformer, other than that I was told they were pretty much the same.

Don't think so- got curious & checked the specs- same weight, same power consumption, same everything. I do believe they're identical or somebody got lazy & didn't update the webpage.

It's a board level component change and not a weight increase.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I recalled spoke to someone at B&K in 2004 and was told the designation of S2 on the 200.7 was more of cosmetic reasons, they dropped the THX ULTRA2 certification as one of the reasons too. FWIW.

As a newly self proclaimed B&K fanboy, I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Get the s1 if it's significantly cheaper and enjoy!
