It's been some time since I've gotten on this awesome site. I had to take a sabbatical as I was spending way too much time here, money on super deals, trying to keep up with the next thing, and getting pissed at needless political conversations. I have finally moved into a new house, re-united with my woman, will be getting married in March, and need to get my home audio and video system completed. We have been building for over a year and I had a special wall and "cubby" built for my SDA's, so I will post photos when it's all done.

My installer wants to sell me two Elan zfan models at a cost of $750.00 plus $60.00 for a fan kit to cool my equipment being housed on a Middle Atlantic rack (which I don't yet have.) I can think of a lot of other things I'd rather spend that kind of money on, and that seems crazy for a fan. It is a total budget buster for a budget which has already been busted...First, are they worth it? And secondly, is there another rack mountable fan option that is as worthy, quitet, and reliable that doesn't require me to build a kit. I don't know anything about fans, but I do know I need ventilation for the equipment in my profile and my installer recommends two units.

If anyone also knows how to order a Middle Atlantic rack from a distributor, I'd love to know. Those guys are impossible to contact.
