looking for a new tv

I watch alot of movies and sports as well play alot of ps3. I'm leaning towards plasma. I've been looking at the Hitiachi P50X901. I would like to stay within $3000-$4000 or even a bit cheaper any thoughts on this tv or suggetions on others would be a great help thanks in advance.

If you're in that price range - no question - Pioneer. They make the best plasmas on the planet.

My father in law has a pioneer plasma, and to be honest it does not seem that special. It is cool that you can put a controlling box in your stereo cabinet and only have one cable going to the TV. Other than that it is a nice plasma, but not that much nicer than a Panasonic 1080p for 2/3rds the price.

In my opinion of course.

BTW - I have seen the plasma at his house, but not in a showroom right next to a bunch of other TV's.

I was at Best Buy Monday and I checked out the Pioneer 50" Kuro 5010fd and the 110fd [both 1080p] and I have to tell you that these sets just kill anything else. Granted none of the TV's are calibrated and are just set up out of the box but there wasn't a TV in the building that was even close to the Pioneer's! YMMV I have a Mits RPTV that I bought almost three years ago and at that time I really wasn't that impressed with plasma's but things have changed. I'll probably keep my Mits for another two years before I'm ready for a new set and if the Pioneer's are still looking as good or better than they do now I'll be buying one unless something better comes along.
