Litagation from cases of ... say it ... BURN IN!!

Ah... thanks. I didn't know that since other people in my household watch alot of 4:3 material that I should be forced to watch a tiny <36" 4:3 screen from 15 feet away. Seriously, that's your response? Quite a pathetic analogy if you ask me. I watch TV on a TV. Because my LCD has no chance of burn-in and your plasma does, I'm suddenly using the wrong tool?

No thanks, I'l watch what I want to watch, when I want to watch it, how I want to watch without worrying about burn-in on my lovely 52" LCD.

Did I tell you that plasmas suck? No I didn't. I merely stated my preference against them because of the real threat of burn-in. Go enjoy your plasma, but do us all a favor and remove that stick from your you-know-where before you do.

What's with the attitude??? It's unfortunate that your exaggerated fear releases such hostility toward others. :(

Perhaps a better analogy would've been enjoy your screwdriver to drive that 3" drywall screw but I'll take the 24V lithium battery drill! :D

I can't see your LCD from my house, so it's all good. I'll gladly enjoy my superior color, motion, detail, viewing angle, etc, etc, etc with no fear of burn-in.

Use the right tool for the job. Do you use a weedeater when doing plumbing? Of course not. If you watch lots of 4:3 material, buy a 4:3 TV. Duh.

Uhh... right. That has got to be one of the most lamebrained recommendations I've read in years.

Know anywhere I can get a 65" 4:3 set? Didn't think so; most manufacturers stopped making them years ago...

You're right about the manufacturers. I never said it was going to be easy to find and watch 4:3 material on a proper big screen.

Are you completely oblivious? Re-read your posts to me and then you tell me why I have "attitude".

Your "plasma superiority" complex is nothing short of PATHETIC. Different people have different needs. Most people seem to get that, but for some reason, you think if someone else is not exactly like you, they are inferior -- and in need of derision and lamebrained irrelevant analogies.

Guess what, my living room is a very large, very bright room with lots of windows. I prefer watching HD 16:9 material. Unfortunately, not everyone else in my house does and they don't like watching stretched material. I also prefer not to stretch non-16:9 material. I use my main tv with a computer and video games.

What would anybody with half a brain in my position do? Go out and buy the best LCD they could find. Which is exactly what I did. I don't want reflections from sunlight and I don't want to get burn-in.

I don't give a rat's **** whether or not YOU believe burn-in is real. You want to give your personal opinion about burn-in. That's fine, post away. But you can take all your plasma fanboy $hit and shove it.

I had a 32" LCD while it was good for movies and reg tv it did not pleease me with fast action movies and hockey(only sport we watch). We recently bought a 42" Panny, with the anti-glare, this thing is the best tv I have owned ! As far as burn in..never I used both Avia and DVE. I do get a bit of IR but as soon as the channel is changed, it's gone. I also recently got Pixel protector disk.http://www.pixelprotector.com/. I use the different screen washes every now end then. I have been on my back for the past month watching lots of movies and TV with black bars, the TV has been on usually for about 10-12hrs a day....not a darn thing wrong with my screen. I'm not saying plasma is the ****, it the best TV for our needs. I love the blacks, colors and speed.

I think the best picture probably does come from a plasma, the Pioneer Kuros/Elites are gorgeous but I just myself a Sony XBR4 LCD a few hours ago ... due to price differences, reflection issues, and usage patterns for me warranted this purchase.

Do I think LCD has the best picture? no. Do I think the XBR 4 has better picture than many plasmas? yes. But in the end Ill enjoy my TV and you'll enjoy your TV. If someone invites me over, Ill enjoy your TV too :)

Im with PhantomOG here. I too would rather not have to worry about breaking in my tv properly for the first 2 months or using screen washes or not watching 4:3 for too long. Ive officially clocked 43.6 hours standing in Circuit City's showroom watching tv's and while I agree that plasmas do have the better picture, when compared to the Sonys, Sammy's and Sharps, the plasmas dont win out by much.

As far as motion, I sat and watched most of the Pittsburgh / Jacksonville game at CC last night on a Sony 52" LCD and it looked NO WORSE than the Panny plasma it was next to. I saw no motion issue or bluring at all. The Panny did have slightly better blacks and better overall color but I guarantee you that once that Sony is sitting in my house, Ill never know the difference and Ill appreciate NOT having to worry about retention or burn in or whatever.

Now there is a difference in price. Actually a huge difference. I can get a 50" 720 Panasonic plasma for $1600 but the closest Sony is the 46" LCD for $1800 but it is 1080. Thats the thing, there are a lot of 720 plasmas but virtually no 720 LCDs in the 50" range. So you can get a 50" plasma for nearly half the price as a LCD, it just depends on how big a difference you think 1080 makes over 720. Now once you start getting into the 1080 plasmas the prices start getting closer. In 1080 you can get the Sony for $2800 or the Panny for $2600.

Im still not writing off DLP tho. I dont know why but Ive always found the DLP picture more pleasing. One of the bars I deliver to has a Mits 50" DLP sitting up above their bar that they show ESPNHD on and it looks just awesome. If they can get their reliability issues worked out or if they simply have a smokin' deal on one when Im ready to buy, I just might have one in my house.

Matter of fact- Ive had no issues with any of my TV's that folks claim to have issues. I have an LCD projector in the Theater room- DLP in the Bedroom, Plasma in the Living room and an LCD in the poker room. and another smaller LCD in the Bathroom.
