HT PC's

I've been trying to save up for an HTPC. I tried to get baseline Emachine to do the same trick-HUGE MISTAKE- pos poofed after 13 months.
Just looking for the most (consistent) bullet proof components, i.e. mother board, intel processor(my 1 experience w/AMD was the Emachines), video card, etc. So, I guess my question is: Anyone reliable online for custom builds, or should I try building it myself???
Once again your feedback is mighty appreciated.
Thanks

really big subject! I would suggest you visit the AVS forums and read through everything up there in the HTPC section for a good month. By then, you will probably be able to put together one kick arss system with all of the proper software to do it.

I have a HP DEC 560z and it's the BEST HTPC I've come across!!
But yes, I'd suggest reading the HTPC forum on AVS.polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves

I like Asus mobo's. I tried to be a Soyo fan, but had problems with their best stuff, I think they're out of the game now anyway.

Asus has been one of the most rock solid MB's in ever category for the past 20 years that I’ve been building computers. I've probably run through 20 of them myself with only one problem (that they fixed). Soyo has long been considered a cheap bargain brand, you find them a lot on really cheap OEM builds from manufacturers. Not so much any more, I didn’t even know they still existed.Testing

+ 1 more. Tons of info there. -
Been buying asus for years, they make some great boards. You might consider putting one together yourself. sometimes parts are cheaper than labor.
