About to call it "quits"

With buying/selling A/V equipment that is. I'm simply SICK of redoing stuff all the time; rolling out the TV stand, swapping cords, reprogramming the Harmony, boxing up speakers, paying for shipping, and everything else that goes along with my compulsive "switching out gear".
There were a few of you a couple months back that commented on this habit of mine. You didn't understand it, but I was loving every minute of it. It's still exciting... getting new equipment, comparing/contrasting, and simply the joy of unboxing new gear. But now, ESPECIALLY with a baby on the way, I can't be devoting my time to all this runaround.
So with that said, here's what's permanent:
Denon 3808ci
Onix X-series surround
PS3
Xbox360
DIY sub (when it's finished)
Panamax
I may change out TV's to something a little bigger, but that's an easier swap since I have the BestBuy discount, and there's only two cables to unplug. And with this dedication to commitment, I may be trying to spend less time on the forums. It's nothing against all of you, but more simply the "out of sight, out of mind". Every time I read about Tylers, or Von Schweikert, or whatever, I get bit by that bug again.
Sorry to ramble on. I just wanted to thank all of you for contributing to my love for this hobby. I've learned an insurmountable amount of things from this board, and truly appreciate everything you've all contributed towards that. I've been able to apply that knowledge to a part-time job, and look forward to seeing where that brings me. I'll try to check back once in a while to say hi, but will be spending more time away from the computer and with my family. Take care all.

Well,
It may take a while, but if you put time into them and raise them right, they should be able to...
...do all that fishing and cable switching for you. And for a good decade or so. You can extend that by having more, of course. Then it's time to play the guilt card and get them back for visits to hook the 'ol man up.
Just kidding of course ... or am I (got two potential cable switchers myself
)? Enjoy your family time! Both you and your wife will appreciate sharing in the new adventure. -
do you have the add-on for the 360 if not, youre missing that or either a HD DVD player. Other than I'd say youre pretty well up to date.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

I think I got to that point years ago with the A/V. Even with being a rep for various lines, I still don't do much swapping around with gear in the living room. I don't spend enough time in there to substantiate it but I know what you mean about swapping cables, reprogramming the Harmony, etc. The first of the year, I think I might get a 50+" flat panel of some sort to replace the 56" RPTV Panasonic I have...although it works fine.Richard? Everytime I get upset because I want something new but the kids need something I remind myself my setup is still leaps and bounds better then the average system. And since I'm still blown away when I get the time to listen to what I have, buying anything else is really just a waste of mony. (But i'd still like to make some changes)Michael

You gotta lot of work to do with upgrading all of your cables. You ain't even hearing what your system can do yet. For starters, budget $800 - $1,000.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

Dane, I'm guessing, judging by your spending habits in the past, that you're a pretty young guy (under 30). Just guessing....
If thats the case, you'll be back. Maybe not to these exact forums, but you'll be back to the hobby. Its not a matter of if; its a matter of when. And next time your back, your back armed with a lot of hard-earned green guys.
See ya when you return - we'll "keep the lights on for ya!"Do you hear that buzzing noise?
