i just purchased a laptop today and well i do know quite a bit about computers except for one thing.. will a power interver (one that plugs into a cigarette lighter) do any harm to a laptop since its a modified sine wave and considering it has sensitive components? i dont really wanna be the first to blow a shiny new laptop out in that manner
i know this sounds rather noobish :P just being carefull

No harm done. I've used my laptop for 3 years as a gps laptop with no issues whatsoever.SRT For Life; SDA Forever!
The SRT SEISMIC System:
Four main satellite speakers, six powered subs, two dedicated for LFE channel, two center speakers for over/under screen placement and three Control Centers. Amaze your friends, terrorize your neighbors, seize the audio bragging rights for your state. Go ahead, buy it; you only go around once. -
Been doing it for years as well...no problems whatsoever. Just be sure to purchase one with enough capability watt wise for your laptop...I had to purchase a larger unit when I went mobile with my monster 17" Dell XPS with its Nvidia power hungry video card...other then that enjoy
