Just heard about this, happened today. Apparantly 3 news helicopters were flying around covering a police chase and 2 of them collided. There is video from one of the helicopters right as they crash.

This is video from another helicopter nearby right after it happened.

That really turns your stomach, but the one thing that bugs me is most reporters will get in a victims face, and ask someone who suffered a big loss well how do you feel. Would you care to comment? this guy wanted to get out of there.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

Sad and I feel for the families involved that where killed today in the accident, but all in all car chases need to be filmed less. So what so many feeling they "Need" the film coverage it's getting out of hand when they run out of air space to fly safely.

And I don't what to hear it was a mechanical problem, because I believe its clear Pilot "A" F&ck up and drop into "B" below him. So even if a mechanical problem when one is flying over the other theres no room for error, which is a problem waiting to happen.

Right or wrong, I smell a lawsuit from the families of the victims on board the helicopters suing the driver in the high speed chase...

I agree with an earlier post, stop filming these clowns, that way the cops can give them a royal beating to teach them a lesson and no one will ever know. But I guess it's like the tabloids or gossip TV... some people love to watch it.

They probably won't need a lawsuit - I know I've heard in the past that any death occurring during the commission of a crime = murder. Pretty loosely connected in this case, but they might be able to get it to stick.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

If you run someone off the road, then that would be the case. But news crews
watching the event from above? They are trying to charge him with it.
I don't get it. He is a low life. But he did NOT cause this.
Two news crews were too obsessed with the story to leave proper flight clearance.
Clearly, the dumb asses need to pay attention to proper flight procedures.
I also don't get why they feel a need to tell everyone to leave a hurricane
area, then fill the place with reporters to show us how dangerous it is.
Someone's gonna pay for that with their life sooner or later.

+1 He is the reason they were there but he had nothing to do with those pilots flying into each other.

I say poor argument if they didn't feel they need the Film at 11 story. They wouldn't be in the air flighting for the same space as each other doesn't what the others logo shown in there video.

I think we as views (well most not myself, but 98% of yous) are as much liable for the deaths as this low life running from the police.

I heard about the helicopter crash just shortly after it happen. I work for Belo media group and KTVK is part of our corp.

It's an extremely sad day in the news business. No matter if you don't like news reporters, anchors, or management... several lives were lost in an instant. Needlessly.

I really hope that from here on out, all TV stations will decide to not cover high speed chases. Really, who does it benefit? That station gets viewers for 30 minutes that a chase in taking place.. and that's it. There is no long term financial gain to the station. But news directors love it when **** like that happens and they can call it breaking news.

I know managers have a way of always placing the blame on everyone else and somehow wash away any guilt or blame placed on them. This will be chalked up to pilot error on one of both of the pilots. I also think the news director's for both TV stations should be either reprimanded or fired for putting employees in a dangerous situation.

The usual example is if you're holding up a bank, and someone in the bank has a heart attack and dies, you're held responsible for the death of that person because it happened during the commission of a felony. Obviously you holding up the bank had nothing to do with it, but it's just one of those "gotchas" for criminals.

I'm sure a lawyer or LEO can tell me how wrong I am.
