What was the very first DVD you purchased?

For me it was...Boogie Nights. I've since replaced the original release with the 2 disc remastered edition.

My first player I think was in 1999, it came with 5 free disks. I think they were:
    Lethal Weapon 4
    Stepmom
    Stargate
    Lost in Space
    Can't remember the 5th

    Then I bought The Matrix

    The Matrix
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

I'm not quite sure. It was either The Matrix or Boiler Room.

First purchase was the Fifth Element. Then, the Whole Nine Yards. Bought one of the first HTIBs from Fry's (Panasonic something) back in 2000 for like $700. What a piece compared to what $700 can get you now.

I remember back in 1999 my girlfriend at the time brought over Shawshank redemption on DVD, and my family didn't have a DVD player :) Now, I have about 6 dvd players including computer drives, and about 250 dvds.

First movie I rented happened to be Night at the Roxberry... first movie I bought. Hm... It was well before The Matrix, though that was certainly in my first 10.

I think mine was T2. That was a very long time ago and if I recall right there were only like 10 movies for DVD out when I bought the first one.

What a great question? I have no clue. I bought one of the first DVD players on the market. It was a Pioneer. DVD's were not even available for rent until almost a year later. So i had a good collection already..............
