I like EQs and the potenial they have. Unfortunately, all the EQs I see start at 40Hz or higher. Does anybody know of an EQ that is reasonably priced (used is fine) that can manipulate the lower Hz?

I'm also considering the use of a sub-harmonic synthesizer to go along with it.

I'll probably try it (or them) between my pre-outs and sub' amp(s).

I have Pioneer SG-9500, and Pioneer SG-9, both minty. SG-9 bottom is at 16Hz, SG-9500 @ 32. I also have Soundcraftsmen SE-450, which bottoms @ 30. I also have an ADC 450. It is boxed up, and I would have to undo it to see its low end.

You know where to reach me. Here's a good laugh for guys in the band........

Return of the Son of Picatures, the Sequel (part III):

No owners manual, but original box. Also DO NOT have the mic.
This piece is a EQ/Spectrum Analyzer/Reverb unit. Bottom slider is at 31.5Hz, HOWEVER, there is a readout on the analyzer for 16Hz. This indicates to me that the last slider is dual function, at 16 and 31.5. Must be a button for the switch, but I sure don't see it. I had an ancient JVC SEA-10, that performed the same way. Bottom slider was marked 40/60Hz with a button to select the band. Top end did the same thing.

If it's AFFORDABLE you want, eyeball the two 450's, as the Pioneer's did not come cheap.

If you're going to pair a sub-harmonic synth with an EQ, all I can
say is: Be Careful. But I'm sure you know that already. That is
dangerously close to playing audio Russian roulette (with your
    woofers, anyway).

I've read many warnings about trying to use an EQ in place
of bigger speakers or subs. EQ's are for controlling room
acoustics (mainly LF--which normally means cutting,
not boosting), or sometimes fixing a bad recording; I'm
not sure of the usefullness of a sub-harmonic synth, however.

Anytime an electric or electro-mechanical device is pushed
beyond its designed limits, you're asking for trouble. It may
be a quick fix, but will probably shorten the life of the device.

Bottom line is: Anyone wanting more low-end should buy
bigger speakers or subs, not try to feed MORE low
frequencies--that their speakers are already having difficulty
reproducing--to them. I sit next to a lot of car stereos at
red lights whose owners have TRIED getting subwoofer
performance out of their 6x9's. Now they have "crackle" in
    place of "boom."

No. I would say I have several power amps, several preamps, about 20 pair of speakers, and a ton of other electronics (receivers, cd players, cassette decks, processors). Somewhere is a thread called "What have you got?" I listed the speakers that I presently own in that thread. Electronics would be a big pain in the **** to list. Too much. As an example, here's the power amps that have been through here in the last 5-10 yrs.

Carver M1.5t (swapped with Carver for M4.0t)
    Carver M1.5t (sold to Troy)
    Carver M4.0t (still here)
    Carver TFM-35 (still here)
    Carver TFM-42 (still here)
    Carver M-500t (still here)
    Carver M1.0t (sold)
    Adcom GFA-555 (sold)
Adcom GFA-5300? (80wpc stereo amp, sold)
Dynaco ST-70 (traded for Polk RTA11TL's)
    Dynaco ST-80 (sold)
    Dynaco ST-120 (sold)
    Hafler DH-500 (sold)
Marantz Esotec SM-8 (just sold, still in shipment)
    NAD 2150 (sold)
    Onkyo-M506RS (still here)
    QED 440 (sold)
    Sansui B-2101
Yamaha M-50 (sold to Aaron S. Hey, where is that kid?)

Anything that is still here, is here for a reason. I want it. Anything that was sold, I didn't want. Each and every one was used here for one application or another. In most cases, the ones that I sold, didn't have enough power.

I like that ADC. I've bid on a few BSR EQ-3000s in the past. Unfortunately the absence of the mic is a hesitation. I wish the Soundcraftsman controlled a little lower.

I'll sit on this for awhile until my funds build up again. Any further info would be greatly appreciated.

Pensacola: Thanks for looking out. I have a 6&1/2" mid-woof that agrees with you.

Max - By any chance, do you have any literature for a PCR-800? I don't need it, but it must've looked good at the time.

Here's all the further info you need Gidrah:

A gentleman has asked me to photograph the ADC while it is receiving input. He wants to see the lights "dance". The last time I did that for him, was on a Pioneer RG-1 Dynamic Range Expander. As soon as he saw the needles moving, he bought it. I am setting the ADC up now to photograph. Seeing how he expressed an immediate interest, and he is a repeat customer of mine, he will get first shot. The Pioneer SG-9500 is spoken for also. I can offer you the two remaining pieces. Sorry, but ya snooze, ya lose.

Hi, nice to meet you. The only power amps I have aboard at this time are the four Carver's, and the big Onk. I love them all to death. Sorry, and thanks for expressing an interest. If I can be of service to you at another time, it will be my pleasure to help you out.

Speaking of RG1's, I just put one up on ebay.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14978&item=3003198943

If anyone here would like it, I'll cancel the auction and work a deal.
