The mix up is a great album. No lyrics, no rapping....just some very relaxed grooves....Forget everything you thought you knew about these guys.

I won't go into a review or talk about the SQ since I have really given it a "listen" but the content is pretty darn good and not what you'd be expecting from these guys. The worst I could say is that it could get a little repetitive from song to song but from their over all collection of work this is completely unique and well worth a listen.

If you liked The In Sound From Way Out I'd say you'll really like this. Very chill, very groovey and a little Jammy....In the best possible way for those who don't want "jam" in their music.

I dig it! The first track is HOT! Anyone else?????

They are very talented musicians and well versed in Jazz and Punk.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Dittos for Doro...
I don't think that "groovy, jazzy" sound being described is anything new for them. It's always creeped into pretty much any of their albums with the exception of Licence.

btw To the 5 Burroughs is grossly underrated.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

    That sounds like a plan.

As far as To the 5 Burroughs goes, I felt it was a mixed bag. There were some solid tracks, but there were some that just seemed like fillers. IMO, they aren't going to be able to top Paul's Boutique. That's a solid effort from beginning to end. Definitely the pinnacle of sampling, some of the references they came up with are ridiculously obscure. I mean, c'mon, "I got more hits then Sadaharu Oh." How the hell do you come up with that?

My all time favorite rhyme would have to be...
I'm up to my neck like Toulouse-Lautrec.

I agree Burroughs is a mixed bag, but I think it takes a lot of undeserved ****. It really does get better with repeated listenings and kind of has its own vibe.

Paul's Boutique is still the standard.

Agreed. They've come a LONG ways since their first released tracks.

I've always enjoyed/appreciated their instrumental tracks mixed in with their other albums. I'll certainly check this one out.

Just picked this up today. Best thing they've put out since Check Your Head.

The production/sound quality of the album is awesome too. This will end up on my personal list of demo disks.
