What amp has good synergy with the SDA 2B's?

I lean to the tube side of the fence but certainly am not ruling out SS.

My rig would be:
Jolida JD100/ Nakamichi CA-5/ ????????/ SDA 2B's

or

Jolida JD100/????????/ SDA 2B's

Thanks,

Scott

Many will chime in on this but owning SDA 1C's, I really like the sound of Carver amps with them. That's how I first heard them 20+ years ago and that's what I have on mine now. The TFM series amps are very nice and the amps like the M-1.0t, M-1.5t, M-4.0t, etc are great in my book. Others say the Adcoms work very well, too. Lots of good powerful amps out there to work with.

I 2nd that. I'm very pleased with what I hear putting a nice tube pre- with a carver amp. You have to use the right tubes tho. This is what I'm using with the 2b's but I've tried some ei elites in the jolida and they sound very nice.

This is good because I think I will eventually get a pair of 1C's.

I like my SDAs with my Rotel RB-980BX. That said, it sounded good with my adcom 535, if you forget about dynamics (come on, it only had like 60 wpc, that's why you need headroom!) I have no doubt it would sound great with a beefier adcom.
Lovin that music year after year.

I would like to stay on the south side of 1k.

Considering my other modest gear. What are your thoughts on a Jolida vs. Carver vs. Adcom?

If I got a Jolida integrated I could use my other components to have another complete small tube rig.

I am not looking to buy anything right away, just want to start looking for and research for the right amp/integrated.

    Thanks,

    Scott

    Scott,

Here's a couple of the newest versions from Jolida, they got rid of the balance control and added remote control....yeah man!

    50 wpc http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?intatube&1186264787

    60 wpc http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?intatube&1187817623

Also check into the Primaluna Prologue's, they've gotten good reviews, but I haven't heard one. None of them come with remote, if that matters to you.

I love the sound of my 10A's get from my Carver C-2,M-200t and Denon C680 deck (a bit much for just playback, but the guy owed me some $$). Had a set of SDA-CRS years ago. I really should take my own life for parting with them!! Carvers have great headroom for an SS pre and amp combo.

I loved the sound with a Carver TFM35...now it's sick...love the sound with a Luxman M117...totally different presentation...I think any decent combo that wakes them up will sound great.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO
    BW Silvers
    Oppo BDP-83SE

Guys, there is SO much more out there than the Carver, Adcom, Rotel and yes, even Jolida gear that keeps getting thrown out here. It's starting to sound like a broken record around here lately, try something new, something different.

A good used tube pre, such as a Modwright or BAT,,and a Belles 350A reference should do just nicely, IMHO. :)

Riding the Adcom train a lot myself, F1 is kind of right. I am currently on the hunt for something different but still affordable.

    Looking at:

    Nakamichi PA-5
    Classe
    Belles
    Forte
    Monarchy
    Odyssey

I was working a deal to get a 1 owner pristine cond. Nakamichi PA-5 for $300, but the deal fell thru. Who knows when I will actually pull the trigger on something.

The only concern is that if you are powering SDA's make sure the amp is common ground or in the case of mono's the negative terminals can be strapped. Or you have to have the AI-1 cable.

H9 I also saw a PA-5 for sale on our local craigs list. I think Strider even linked it to the board. I am leaning towards a tube integrated for simplicity and the fact that it would create another whole decent tube rig. I am thinking a Jolida 502 series or similar amp. I am still in the research phase of this purchase.

Sorry. Along day at works, a few frosty adult bevs and playin around with my new (old) Pioneer RT-707 RTR makes ya kinda goofy. Forgot how fun the old reels were! The old Mitsubishi amps are nice too. Big nasty looking beasts!
