Phono pre-amps as low as $36 shipped?

Did anyone else see these advertised on gmail or tried them? No affil.

I guess it was going to happen sooner or later since phono interest seems to be on the rise. Good ol' supply and demand economics.

    I dont know man, I've heard some cheap phono pre's that sounded like arse. I've never heard these though.

    I've had them from "mid" priced to stupid. Stupid won out. $36 ain't gonna cut it.

    They are probably similar to the preamps thrown in older receivers. Meant only to do the job. If you look at the cheapest one it is identical to the one RS sold 20 years ago. I had one of those back in the day. It did the job but of course I would have never known how bad it was back then. It would be better than nothing for sure but just a crutch until you got a real one.

    This is several years old, but the generic players likely haven't changed, and Jim Hagerman's Bugle is still probably a great bargain, especially if you buy the PCB and source the parts yourself.

    I use the bugle from Hagerman. It sounds better than the phono section in my TAD-150. It was easy to build and sounds great considering the price. I want to get his Cornet tube phono amp next.
