They say that 120db is the treshhold for pain.

This is incorrect!

I can tell you 1st hand listening to something for a minute at 113-117 will end in a headache. I've had it for over an hour now..


I did some rewiring and different placement of my rt3000s and thus the problem.


Damn them Polk people!!:)

    I agree.. 111db and above will give you a headache. i've only listened to a movie that loud a few times before.

    i have ben in cars in the 120 range. that is loud i peged a rat shack dmm at 126 with my first car setup. my curent will play clean in the 110 db range but i dint turn it up loud any more. but i do have a flat fr. dual 12 in sealed boxes.

    Everyone experiences pain at different sound pressure levels. My old car had two 10's capable of 140+dBs, and me and buddies would drive around with no problems. I did notice pain when I sat in a car, that was metering around 154 dB.

    I was lucky enough to score rt3000s, rt800is and a psw450 for 700 at CC. All open box of course. What a christmas present to myself!:)

    i can easily average 110 in my living room but damn it will make you wince every time a bullet flys by.
    in my jeep i can easily hit 130 clean with only one 10 sealed...

    As my name might imply I like to fish a lot.

    I have 4 6 1/2s and 2 10"s subs in my 18 foot flats boat. Ill have to get a reading on it though. I'm sure it wont be too impressive considering its open air and all.

    Im a skinny water fisherman so theres no tunes on when Im fishing, its only on when getting from point a to b. Oh and blasting of course during the shotgun starts at tournies.:)

    Nothing like going 70 mph on the water listening to tunes!:)
