I read this review today, interesting mention of useing this amp with a good receiver,

    pasted:

Rotel has done it again with the superlative RMB-1075. I think this product represents one of the best values in home theater amplification on the market right now, and recommend that you put it on your short list when shopping for upgrades. It would be a fabulous addition to the pre-outs of any surround sound receiver, bypassing the often less-than-adequate power amplifiers they have, and especially when you migrate your system to DVD-A and SACD. But, also, it would be wonderful to pair it with any dedicated processor out there. I have been working on this review for quite a while, but I have had so much fun showing it to friends, and enjoying it here in the lab, I put off publication because I did not want to send it back.

faster100, i'm at the same point myself. I am looking for a two channel amp. i've been looking at Rotel, Adcom, Carver, and Onkyo. nothing over like $500 used for a 2 channel. Looking at around 100 to 150wpc range.

so i'm very interested in what prices should be paid for these amps.

If they are current models you can expect to pay at least 50% - 70% of retail if they are used.

For older models you can expect to pay about 25% - 50% of retail. The high end of each of those spectrums is a bit high.

I've seen Rotel RB-990BX amps go for $200 on ebay, and I've seen them go for $450. It just depends.

There are some decent deals on Rotel stuff on ebay right now. I think I saw several RB970 amps going for $200 or so, and a couple of RB990 amps for around $400 (retail was $999, so 40% is 'ok' but I wouldn't say it's a deal).

If you have local hi-fi shops check them regularly for used/consignment gear. I've seen some killer deals at the ones here in Austin. Check ebay and audiogon every day or two, and eventually you'll find a killer deal on something that you want. Good luck.

faster100, how do you plan on using these amps?

sounds like a good idea.. some of the amps i've been checking out on Ebay are

    Adcom GFA-555
    Adcom GFA-5400
    Adcom GFA-5503
    Carver A-400X
    Rotel RB 980 BX
or 3 more Marantz MA500's to add to the two I already have.

anyone have any experience with any of the above amps? I'm sure there are several more good amps out there that I have not found yet. What I want the two or three channel amp for is to bi-wire my front 800i's.

far as adcom, I really like the 7500 5 channel amp for the power and the money, the 5500 series seems alittle high priced now, or the lower powered 7300 multi channel amp by adcom looks ok but only 60 wpc x6 i think
