The guy's pics of back show they are SDA-2, but they do not look like the other pics I have seen of SDA-2. How about a review from anyone who owns these? Thanks, polksters...

I have a pair of the studio version of SDA-2B's. I think the main difference is mine are black vinyl instead of a wood vinyl. They are my first SDA's and I have had them for 6-8 months or so. To me they sound pretty good. It took a few days to appreciate the SDA sound but now that I have I want one of the bigger models. Mine have the tweeter that everyone recommends replacing and at some point I will get around to changing them but for now I have no complaints with the high's. They have a nice wide soundstage that I have grown to love. I picked mine up for $250 for the pair locally. That may or may not be a little on the high side but life is too short to continually pass up good gear over a few bucks.

I've used them at a distance of around 6' in a 2-channel setting. For music, everything sounded like it was right where it should be. For Home Theater, I loved the phantom center. Matter of fact, I did have a center channel but it was not connected. Several times I had to get up during movies to double-check that it was really disconnected. I just shook my head and sat back down to enjoy the movie. When the time comes to pass mine along I'll shed a tear.

There are more reviews lurking in older posts that you can use the search function on the blue line above. Here's one to start with.

Ask the seller what type of interconnecct cable it is. blade/blade or round pin/blade. Nice price if you can get them for around $200. I think I paid $225

The brown oxidation around the passive radiator will come clean with some windex sprayed on a soft cloth and gentle rubbing. The left mid-bass driver seems to have some white spots. Windex applied to a q-tip and gentle strokes will clean that up.

DarqueKnight has a list of the differences here.

Thanks a lot guys. The price list for the SDA-2B shows the studio version as $200 less and says the wood version was real wood not laminate. The studio version list in the user manual as 15 pounds less than the other. I have 10B's for HT set up fronts which I love but want something with a little more in the vocals area. I have trouble hearing dialogue in a lot of movies...maybe because of the cheap JBL center I have? I actually put some 5 jr's on top of my 7's and got more of the sound I want though they seemed to be a bit too bright.

I have SDA-SRS's and I shut my center off too, and I have shut off the rears. Sometimes I have to cheak to see if the rears are of too:D

    Enjoy Ben

My SDA2's sounded like they were missing bass. They just didn't sound natural. When you replace the tweeter in those speakers it really helps out with the vocals too.

Sounds like you need to play around with placement. Try adjusting how far you keep them from the back wall. Just an inch or two can have dramatic effects on bass response and control.

I've also heard that adding a set of spikes to the cabinets helps tighten up the bass.
