Picking brains about sub setup

I have just about decided to add a psw-404 sub to my system. I just want to make sure that I have the optimum cabling hookup and the proper small/large/subwoofer settings on my Onkyo TX-SR600 receiver and the proper crossover settings on both receiver and subwoofer. Can someone enlighten?
Room placement is not an issue, since there is really only one place where a sub would fit.
Another question: when does bi-wiring become advantageous and what does that involve?
Thanks for any help.

Small - sub on using LFE output.I have the optimum cabling hookup and the proper small/large/subwoofer settings on my Onkyo
Actually it is a huge issue. Placement is very important. Having only one place to put it can seriously be killing the bass responce.Room placement is not an issue, since there is really only one place where a sub would fit.
