Does anyone know if any of the RTA12's were made with real wood enclosures, or were they all made with vinyl?

Mine are vinyl rta 12a circa 1979.

There's at least one pair of RTA 12's in rosewood but they are in a secret location. ;)
I have a 1980 vinyl pair. In all of the sales brochures that I've seen, wood finish (veneer ?) was available as an option for most models.

A sales brochure mailed in 1989 from Metro Drive:

"SDA SRS and SDA SRS2 are available in a beautiful hand-oiled oak or walnut finish. All other SDA and Monitor speakers come standard in furniture grade walnut or rosewood woodgrain vinyl. Many models are available at extra cost in hand-oiled oak or walnut finishes. Video Sound Loudspeakers are available in designer black vinyl."

POLKSDA's website on the bottom of page 21: 1985 Polk Audio Complete Sales Catalog

"SDA-1As are available in a beautiful hand-oiled oak or walnut finish. All other SDA and Monitor speakers come standard in furniture grade walnut or rosewood woodgrain vinyl. All models except the 4A are available at extra cost in hand-oiled oak or walnut finishes. Video Sound Loudspeakers are available in several finishes including designer black and silver."

Undated sales brochure from Annapolis Road:

"SDA SRS and SDA-1As are available in a beautiful hand-oiled oak or walnut finish. All other SDA and Monitor speakers come standard in furniture grade walnut or rosewood woodgrain vinyl. All models except the 4A are available at extra cost in hand-oiled oak or walnut finishes. Video Sound Loudspeakers are available in several finishes including designer black, silver and furniture grade walnut vinyl."
