How is the seller clueless as to what they are? He seemed to describe them pretty much spot on.

It look like he just looked them up on Polk's website, and quoted it. He also states he has nothing capable to power them up. It doesn't take much to see if they work.

I gotta admit, I was tempted, but my audio budget needs some R&R, and what....I'm gonna have AR9's, Carver Platinum Amazings, AND SDA-SRS's?

my wife would freak, and she would actually be right :D

a recent purchase of the CAL cd player from Russ, and a Monster HTS-5100 power center on EBAY is what polished off the budget for a while. I have nothing I really want to sell.

Those grilles should be reparable. That's rat/mouse damage from them running up and down the grilles. IIRC, Polk Audio still has the grille material and you can get it but I might be wrong.

They are defintly in rough shape but the drivers don't look that bad. The electronics probably need some help but it shouldn't be a big task to check continuity and replace binding posts. Either way, for $350, even if you need to replace drivers, it could end up as a nice project with some fruitful results.

The only other issue would be the condition of the end caps on the top and bottom. However, they wouldn't be that difficult to sand down a tad and refinish. They are easily reproduceable and if you are careful, you can reuse original hardware to mount them...unless they are glued on, I don't know.

If I had the cash and room, I'd jump on them. The drivers alone are probably worth twice that much.

Edit: Sorry, mispoke in my edit.

its probablly an optical illusion but it looks like the domes on the tweeters in the left speaker are larger than the right? irregardless its a hell of a price now if bidding doesnt go way up. REGARDS SNOW

If polk doesnt have material. there is a place in the sda compendium that lists the type of material needed and name etc for these.

Also it is really easy to sand a few scratches out and restain and laquer if needed.

Heres a few pics of a pair of jbl -100 centurys that were truly in awful condition, horrible scratches. It probally took me 8-10 hrs at most to sand all both sides top and bottom of both and restain and add a little feednwax for a shine. I still need to repaint the fronts and get new foam rings for the tweeters but when im finished they will be very nice little bookshelfs for not much money.

$1258 is certainly a good price to get into a nice pair. It leaves some money left to do some upgrades:D Nice new grill cloth, caps, resistors, and tweets you'll still be cheaper than a lot of the big boys sell for stock.
    Congrats
Nice to see a Polkie get um
