ok id like to chim in my two cents here, I HAVE NEVER HEARD ANYTHING THAT CAN COME CLOSE TO POLK AUDIO. Matthew Polk certainly knew what he was doing. i demoed a pair of 20,000 dollar speakers i like my polk monitor 70's better, they have a warmer richer sound. i dont like axiom, paradigm, or b&w. Polk Might be full market now but is still audiophile grade. They didnt forget where they came from.

This Bose talk reminds me of my recent speaker shopping expedition. But first a smidgeon of background: In the late 70's I briefly owned a pair of Bose 901 Series IV speakers. I soon moved to a different house and found myself without a proper place for them, in light of the fact the 901 is probably the most room and set-up finicky speaker there is other than a k-horn. Long story short, I sold the 901's, preferring to go back to my trusty New Advents. Fast-forward to the present and my auditory memory has glossed over the 901's performance to the point where I actually praised in on another speaker maker's forum as being one of the best sounding speakers I had ever heard. And then I went speaker shopping.

First up was the Bose Factory Showcase Store near KC, KS. Yes, they did have a pair of 901's set up and why certainly, they would be more than happy to let me hear them! So I did. An oh - mah - gawsh, how horrible was the sound! Truly the expression "no highs, no lows, must be bose" was born of similar experiences! Ick, yuck and yech, get me outta here.

Now I don't know if that pair was defective, not set up right, or if it was the room ( which admittedly, was way too small. Kinda like a big public bathroom, really.) All I know is the sound sucked with a capital S. Which leaves me to ponder why I ever thought they sounded so good. Has my frame of reference changed so much that what once sounded good is now horrible? Is that even possible? I don't know.

Anyway, if y'all think Bose gets lambasted around here, ya oughta go over to the klipsch forum. Those folks raise Bose bashing to the level of an art form!

So now we have a link to their thread and they have a link to ours? It's going to be like the couple who hate each other, someone will say something here, and a response will be posted over there, but we will never actually directly talk.

I don't see the big deal, looks like AH was letting the discussion go on......

I doubt the mods, sponsors or not, expect everyone to like the same thing. They wouldn't be able to maintain a membership if that were true. Besides, if we all liked the same thing, what would we discuss?

    Cheers,

That is all I need, a Polk Engineer putting my quote in the same thread where Bose is mentioned. Don't you know that I could be hunted down by association alone? Don't you guys love me anymore?
    Well?
    umm... you there?
    Ugghhh!!!!

BTW... as a Polk rep, you should be careful what you say about that other forum. Otherwise, you may get banned from it! LOL... oh, I crack me up! :D

Sorry about putting you and Bose anywhere near each other on the forum :)

And I won't worry about getting banned. I haven't visited their forums in a long time. Arguing with them is like trying to force blood out of a stone.

    CJT,

hey, if they banned ya, just move on. I admit, I would be tweaked at it too, but if they dont like you, why would you want to hang there anyway?

I dont get into the "my speaks are better than yours" stuff anyway. I sit in front of my theater, play movies, with a grin from ear to ear. thats what matters

Is Audioholics biased towards thier sponsors? Most likely. Did CJT break their rules? Absolutely! He was vulgar & threatening. The ban IMO was justified.

There is a right way & wrong way to go about things & CJT went about it the wrong way.

    All;

Johnny Canuck was temporariy banned for one sole reason - repeated violations of our forum rules, particularly this one stated in our Forum FAQ:

    Quote:
No bashing our site, ethics, motives, etc. If you have criticisms about us, send us a PM or email (info@audioholics.com)

Shortly after he was banned, he sent us the following email:

    Quote:
You banned me from Audioholics because I told the truth. YOU ARE F*CKING BIASED to companies whoi pay your bills. If you do not renstae me, I will make it my mission to destruoy your reputation all over the internet for this reason. YOU C*CKSUCKERS

Now that he has demonstrated clear malicious intent against us, he is permanently banned from the Audioholics forum. It is obvious he made good on his promise to us by starting that thread on the Polk forum in attempt to slander us.

    WOW,

while the banning might have sucked, that Email was not the way to handle it dude.

    Decaf brotha, Decaf

although, in his defense, the question still begs as to why he was banned in the first place. Greg notes he was banned before that email was sent. Of course, that email cemented the ban with a 4 ft layer of mortar and bricks, but hey, whatever :D

Sounds like to me, the ban was a blessing in disguise.

That's why I don't frequent any other forum.

Though, if the e-mail is authentic, CJT should calm down. But, he wasn't banned for the e-mail, that was post banning.

I never sent that post back in the forums. I sent that personally to Gene. Yes it was a wrong way to handle it. I am sorry for that .I was out of line and angry. I may have had a few too many pops that night. But as I was banned for life, what did I have to lose. I spent a lot of time there. Too much. I bought many products they promoted and supported them a long time.

That posting here of my response came directly from one of their mods, Gene I assume. because he is the only one who saw it.I sent it in an email. They are backtracking to save their butts. A/H ARE biased and this is about WHY i was banned in the first place, not how I responded.

Nice try Gene. Now go away and go back to your comfy little website of sheep who believe everything you say and hype. I was merely challenging you. Your words were exactly and I quote "you have accused us of bias for the last time". Well, I am doing it now again and I will again and again. You are a joke. You can't take the truth and like people have said here, Audioholics is now a website that promotes and reviews products that pay the bills. I don't blame you for that. But do not come over here and defend your actions. You banned me for speaking my mind. Period. I did a side by side comparison of a product that pays your bills and is your biggest client to a product that never gets a word mentioned. Many people like myself are interested in the Polk/Axiom comparison but can't make a comparison because Axiom isn't sold in stores. I thought some would find my comparisons helpful because you don't review Polks for whatever reasons you have. My friend and I went through the trouble of ordering Axiom to try them. We were disappointed. Am I not allowed to say that? I am tickled pink that other posters are seeing this argument over at A/H. Maybe they too will not believe everything they read. But god forbid, they better not challenge you. Somebody said ****? You coming here and posting my response to the ban may have been your biggest mistake. Now the word will get out. Now you have made it personal.

I'm not opposed to voicing your opinion, getting on a soapbox from time to time or various other things I've been guilty of personally....but don't even think about turning this into a AH vs CP thread.

Let them roll how they roll and we'll handle our business here. I believe enough information is available to all interested parties, to make a decision about how and why.

There are far more constructive things you can contribute to on THIS forum, let's chill out and talk shop.

CJT - that was definetely not the way to respond! You lost all credibility at that point, even if they were in the wrong to ban you.

And if you are paying attention to Gene and his websites for anymore than comic relief, you need to move on. Lots of good info and forums out there, anything associated with Gene is not on that list. If Gene offers you koolaid, you might want to run!

Like I said, my response by email to Gene was wrong. Him coming over here to post it is merely a way for him to try to ruin my credibility and back track and over shadow the reasons why i was banned in the first place. I promise this is not going to be a Polk vs A/H thing. I do not want to be part of a forum or website that conducts themselves like that anyways. How can he say he wasn't being biased?

anyways...I have wasted enough energy on this and it's getting stupid. Thank you everyone here on Polk forums for listening and I look forward to posting here occasionally.. This site is MUCH friendlier anyways.

I agree, the party is over. It shouldnt be an US against Them sort of thing. Good knowledge to be had over at AVS, HTF if youre interested in other forums, I personally use those and Club Polk, the rest I dont bother with, often times you can read up on things and not join anyway if youre just looking to gain knowledge on a product or subject. Life isnt over bro cause you got banned. Go easy next time.

Guys..I am totally cool with this. I just wanted to get the word out that Audioholics is biased. But it seems most at Club Polk already knew that.

FWIW, the ban was permanent from the get go. "Date to be reinstated:never" is what it said. Then I lost it unfortunately on them.

It's over. If a mod could lock this thread, it would be greatly appreciated.
