Integrated Amplifier Burn in?

Hey, I just picked up a Trends TA-10, a tripath based amplifier reviewed here by 6Moons. I have it playing right now with my monitor 5's, but it sounds pretty harsh right now and with the bass being a little uncontrolled as well and I suspect it'll need some serious burn in before it starts sounding decent.

Now, here's my question: Do I need to have the volume knob turned up to something moderate to be able to give the electronics what it needs?

The reason I ask this is because I'll be out of my home a fair amount this weekend and the system is set in a fairly central location, where it will certainly bother other people.

Can I just turn the volume down? Or what if I disconnected the speakers? Any ideas?

Playing it with the volume reduced will be fine.
