    Dear MxStYlEpOlKmAn,
Nice spelling. You're on your way to a career in lawn care. How about I send you a book so you can learn to read and write? Also, quit taking pictures while sodomizing yourself, it's illegal. I'm giving your friend Russ the audio gear. At least HE can spell!

Dang funny there BDT. I'm having to stifle my laugh. LOL!LOL!LOL!

Here's one for ya Sid. My 4 watt speakers fill my room with beautiful music. To fry them I'd have to be listening to them at pretty high volume and they're not even high efficiency.

The speaker you asked about are indeed ratshacks. I bought the drivers and built the enclosures. It came to a whopping (not Whopper) $52.11.

Actually you are on a great start and will continue to refrain from making cracks about your age. Use your computer. Investigate all things that you can, especially audio related. I had your enthusiasm, but not the resources 20 yrs ago. I wish my life could be bor(e)ing.

I have those Ratshack's. I just have the 80 dollar version: Optimus. They sound awesome. They arnt loud - Only can handle 40 wats. But they are pretty accurate for 80 dollars. Im sure the RCA has a better high end. RCA's have the most treble other than Kef that I have ever heard. newayz gotta run to skool! lol! bye

    MxStY:

A couple of things.. first.. you wear glasses.. not glass's... glass's is the possessive for glass.. as in.. "May I borrow some sugar?" "Oh, I don' t know, that sugar belongs to my glass.. it is my glass's sugar." "Well then, I will ask your glass if I may borrow some of the sugar." "OK. I am interested in my glass's response, for no one has ever asked before to borrow some of my glass's sugar."

Second... in face-to-face conversation, laughing/giggling a lot comes off as nervous and hestitant and not very committed to what you're saying. Not much different here... plus, it is a little annoying.. I mean, come on.. not every comment needs a "LOL" at the end.

You've said a couple of times that you want to learn.. that means you have to LISTEN. There is a lot of experience in a lot of things, audio and other, on these forums. But you aren't going to learn **** if you aren't open to the possibility that what you currently think/believe is wrong.

For example, M&K subwoofers are actually made on a small Asian island by naked, large-breasted women. There are a few women on the island whose **** are the perfect shape for subwoofer drivers, and those **** are used as models by M&K for design. Then other naked large-breasted women assemble the drivers and cabinets. If you get down really close to your subwoofer and inhale softly, you can usually *just* pick up the scent of naked island woman sweat.... tell your friends.

The Optimus definitely has the edge on reproducing that "amplitude modulation radio" sound, effortlessly nonperforming the bass responsibilities. Bass response is impressive, with a 157dB rolloff below 297 Hz. The KLH succeeds wonderfully at simulating the ellusive "woofer under water" sound of many 80s Japanese speakers. But of course the real test is listening to music and movies. Both of these speakers were able to reproduce the TRex footsteps from Jurrassic Park with authority, so that you were sure the TRex was - at most - 4 or 5 houses away. The explosions from Pearl Harbor were so realistic that you would swear you were right there, in 1941, in Hoboken, reading about them in the paper. The soundstage is fully two dimensional... each instrument jumps out at you and you can tell for sure that yes, someone is playing that instrument.

Connections were a draw. Both speakers included cool little buttons that you push that then open up this little hole and you can insert speaker wire up to 18 gauge in size. Truly awesome!

Sit back and listen to either of these speakers and you're left with no doubt whatsoever that you are NOT listening to a clock radio or metal scraping on a chalkboard. Well, most of the time it isn't like metal on a chalkboard.

The Optimus's I have, Slight treble - little to no bass. But the midrange is awesome to me.
