Brazilian Hardwood Floors

Anyone heard of this type of wood? My parents just finished having their bedroom done yesterday and all I have to say is....WOW. The wood is all sorts of different shades and really makes a nice looking floor.

Attached a few pics....

Some day I will get to do fun modifications like this like to my own home :D

    Solid wood. the real deal.

    And as far as it being waxed real good.....you wear socks on it and you are gonna fall flat on your face, it feels like ice right now.

    Brazilian hardwoods make nice floors, lots of great woods to choose from, and they hold up real well. Most are also renewable resources raised on tree farms, not destruction of the rainforests. The other really cool option for floors is bamboo. It wears like iron!

    very nice looking floor..

    I live in a house built in the late 40's.. and the floors here use fir as the flooring wood. it's similar looking to that Brazilian wood in looks.. but the fir is very soft... and gets marks and gouges very easily. a computer chair with wheels will gouge the floors if not care... but i gotta say.. once refinished and sealed.. they look amazing.

    yea, supposedly my parents have all new furniture coming, new bed, new closet doors, etc. etc.....the last two years they have been on a renovation spree, regular bathroom, master bathroom(looks incredible), master bedroom, spare bedroom, office, new pool, new roof, new septic system, im still waiting on my in-law apt to get its share :).....pretty sure thats after the kitchen which starts next month.

    Looks like Brazillian cherry to me too. The only reason I'd know that is we've been looking at it for a couple of our rooms here in the near future. Beautiful floors, very hard. They supposedly get a little darker as they age.
