Anthem 2 SE Special Edition 200 wpc @8 ohms, 300 wpc @4 ohms

This is a hybrid amp with solid state power for the low end and tube action for the mids and highs. As Russman said, "the best of both worlds."

If you follow this forum, you will see that established members frequently recommend at least 200 wpc. This gives you tube sound without sacrificing bass and raw power.

This amp is one of three that I own. I don't know how many were produced, but I don't believe a lot as these are tough to find. The SE has upgraded Kimber internal wiring and upgraded Aura caps. This is likely as close as one can get to Sonic Frontiers branded equipment without spending SF kind of money.

This amp is recommended by Russman, Doro, George Daniel, and other senior members on this site. These pleasantly surprised many at the Polkfest 2006 and comments from several in attendance found the Anthems to be less bright than the monster Classe amp previously used in the rig.

As some of you may have followed, the amp was dinged a bit on the corners during shipping by UPS and it was smoker owned (which I have since been told is not a big deal whatsoever.) I happened to find another and snatched it up, thinking I might keep three and use this for my center channel.

That hasn't happenned, so this baby is up for sale. Other than a few cosmetic dings to three corners (none of which are as bad as they seemed at the time of receipt and initial shock), this unit is in good shape. The good thing about this unit is that it is so heavy and well built it isn't destroyed like some lesser amps would be. It is guaranteed to work properly and was purchased via Ebay from another member who happenned to also be a Club Polk forum member.

Due to the dings, the Anthem is being offered for $550 shipped. (I paid several hundred more for this and the others I purchased.) It will be packed to survive an atomic blast. Bert26 (Chris) has first dibs via our conversation at Polkfest and his interest in seeing pics and getting wife approval. All interested parties post here first then PM. Consider Bert26 as first PM. Pictures to follow later today. Money order or add usual 3% for Paypal.

No offense to the Classe' owners, but, imo, the Anthem's had a much better sound to them. I'm sure that Classe' had people that liked it better, too. The tube front end probably is what made the difference.

2nd dibs acknowledged. Please keep in mind this is heavy and shipping might be a bit more to Canada.

Willow, I've been thinking about this, and to be quite frank, I'm not sure I want to ship to Canada. UPS F'd this up not once, but twice, and I am underwhelmed with their delivery. I'm sure you know UPS is the only feasible service. Plus, the customs fees are ridiculous, but that doesn't affect me.

I had already decided I wasn't going to use UPS. Their carelessness in first and return delivery absolutely shocked me. I truly had sworn them off...

Thanks for the kind words everyone....

BDT - this is all your fault as I heard these at your swinging pad first! You are first in line if I ever decide to part with it (it is an incurable sickness after all!).

Antny - It's not quite the punch of the Silver 9t's, but I am gettin' there!!

Can't wait to get tubed - or at least "hybrided"!

    Cheers!

Received the Anthem from Lee today - packed as the saying goes to withstand an atomic blast.

Lee - I'll PM Shack and let him know of another completed stellar deal - THANKS!

I'll post my thoughts on this bad boy else where (once I figure out the correct place).
