They're cheap... .and they're upside down! They also have a rear-firing port vs the front-firing of the r15's.
Ludicrous gibs!

I just saw this myself. Any idea of how they compare to the R15's? Just a different orientation or is there something more that I don't know of? The cabinet appears to be close to the same size, drivers don't reveal anything new, the port firing to the back confuses me as it might make mounting them on a wall more difficult, thought might make port noise (which I've never found to be a problem) quieter.

    So is it purely style?

who cares. for the price, I just bought a pair since i've never owned an Rseries product before. I'll use them for surround back in 7.1, or as a pair of PC speakers if i still prefer 5.1.

    thanks for the link.

I wish I had the spare change to grab a pair to compare to the R15's. I love my R15's for computer speakers, but I wonder if I would love the R150's more? They're cheaper than my R15's were, too....

don't buy these if you're planning on putting them on a wall. They don't have keyhole slots for mounting.

dumb, dumb design on the part of polk. Now I know why they're selling for that price. I passed. 5.1 rocks.

The Monitor 30s have the bottom tweeter as well. It might not sound different, but it sure looks funny. Fry's also has the R300 for just $10 more and it is the floor-standing version. Put a pair of each of those together and you have 2/3 of a ridiclously cheap 5.1. I don't know why the change. The R15 and R30 are the same speaker as the R150 and R300, just an extra "0" I guess. The part that is weird to me is that they are the same price too and one is a newer product. Who knows...

The tower speakers are sold individually... still a great deal, though!

If I had the room, I likely would've already set up an r series HT on the cheap. Like I said, I really love my R15's, and they're currently pulling duty as computer speakers. Excellent nearfield speaks.
