Solid Pre. Nice deal on this one, perfect for running a true 2-channel inside a HT rig.

This pre has an excellent lineage...Hoosier21 to Me to BMDP. It has been meticulously taken care of and the Raytheons that come with are the famous black-plates and were my favorite of the tubes I rolled in it. If I could, it would be back at my house. You will not be disappointed, and it comes with a wood cased remote, too.

Thanks guys! Yep, it's an excellent tube linestage, and too nice to pack away as a spare.

Thought I'd give the club a shot at it, but I realize anything in this price range normally doesn't move here.

Now listed on Audiogon @$1450 shipped. Price offered here still stands for club members through 9/25, then I'll take this posting down.

    Hi Cliff,

Unless I setup another system (no room), I have no place for it. I went with the new PS Audio GCA separates in the upstairs rig, and have the Carver Lightstar Direct (running balanced/passive) in the downstairs, vinyl rig. My Shanling CDT-100 (in the MBR rig with a Teac switching amp and the Abbeys) has volume control and doesn't need a preamp. My "old school" rig (Dynaco PAS-3X, ST-70, and SDA-2Bs) is packed away until I get the time to do the Van Alstine mods to the PAS 3-X this winter.

The MLP is the very best of the tube linestages I've owned (Anthem Pre-2L, EE MiniMax, Transcendent GG.) As I said, it's too nice a piece to pack away as a spare.

You wouldn't want to take a modded set of AL IIIs as a partial trade, would ya??

I'd love to hear them, Noel. But, I have four pairs of speakers in storage right now (Monitor 11, SDA-2A, SDA-2B, and RTA-12C), not counting the MG-I Imp's I've never had time to rebuild. Plus, I'd have to setup that other system I have no room for. Thanks for the offer, though.

Damn. I might be interested. Lemme pay this month's bills and see what's left. I'll respond more positively either way in a few days.

MD, just curious how much better this piece is than the Pre-2L is IYO? I know its a subjective question. Percentage better? What does it do better?

It's more dynamic and open than the Anthem. Featurewise, they're nearly identical. The external power supply (which the Anthem doesn't have) may play a large role in my perceptions, as may the difference in tube compliment. Gary also uses better quality components than the standard 2L (the SE version, from my understanding, corrects much of this.)

Percentage better? Too subjective. A preamp is part of the total system synergy.

Well, as long as you have guns to shoot, soccer games to play, and a girl to take care of...I don't guess you can complain too much. :p
