Well this is from the post earlier i had posted that i was going to buy this CS400i display model for $269.00 well they decided it was the last one being it was the display and sold it to me for $239.00 so i was even happier, i took a pic for yall, I know you know what it looks like but this is really clean and the grill is perfect being it was a display figured it might be alittle dinged. I washed it with a sponge and it looks almost new, anyways this thing is HUGE compared to the csi30 i just traded in, I havent Bi-wired it yet. that will be later tonight.

I plan to after the pooh holloween cartoon my daughter is watching is over, LOL also i un bi-amped my 70's today and think i'm going to just run them bi-wired, seems the highs came down a bit after taking that amp channel off the tweeters and put both top and bottom inputs on the speaker to just one amp channel per speaker instead of 2 each, The way they do it is if you run a channel to each input 1 runs just the tweeter and the other the mids and seems like to much power for just one tweeter, so i am testing it out for a bit...... any thoughts?????? i still need to recalibrate all these new speakers again, rti28's and now the cs400,

I got the 400 Bi-wired now, seems about the same but atleast i know its done, seems kinda weak on bass should i have better bass? i think my other had more, maybe worn out drivers i don't know. any ideas. It sounds good don't get me wrong just loud but not as much bass as i would think for a speaker this size. I guess no need for bass with a sub....

faster100 congrats on you CS400i. they are incredible centers. I to find that my cs400i lacks bass for it's size and drivers. but, i think my 800i's and sub make up for it. play around with your bass management setting. with small, and large. I do.. and find that there is very little difference in the sound output from the center. when in small. it of course directs more bass to the sub. when in large less bass is going to the sub. Mine is bi-wired too. who knows why it lacks bass. but like i said.. doesn't seem to be a problem.

Great, glad i'm not the only one that thinks that. But yeah my sub and rti70's make up plenty for it,

are the drivers for the cs400 the same as the Rti70's?? if these were to "go bad" in the CS400i could i get these replaced with the polk warranty? and how do they decide if the driver is gone?? Now they work fine now i am just asking for the future, that would also refresh the speaker to like new, also can you change the tweeter to the one that matches the 70's i have being it is a sealed tweeter it doesnt really matter what case its in right.

Well i rented and watched the sum of all fears, The new center sounds great and adds authority i guess you could say, Polk said the same drivers are used in the 400i and the new csi40 but the tweeter is the silver looking tweeter in the 400i, so it matched pretty well with the rti70's even with the diff tweet. I am almost happy with the setup for a few month now. I'm glad i got the center, yes its also Bi-wired now, I can't say i noticed any difference or maybe just slightly but all the same its done. I also switched my mains from bi-amped to bi-wired now, seemed like to much power just on the tweets and made them alittle brighter then with just one amp channel running each speaker x 2 sets of wires each of course. I think thats about all for the revue, Hey when you send in blown drivers to polk do they make you send the whole heavy speaker in or just the driver? Just wondering for future use

Well i don't have a means to bi-amp the 400i, but i had the rti70's bi-amped and they seemed to be more bright, being the one channel soley powers the tweeter, seems alittle much for the tweeter as would be with the 400i, what size amp you useing to bi-amp the 400i? I have the onkyo amp which is 165 wpc @8 ohms

Oh that was to the other poster, No the 400i is not small at all and sounds loud and great to me, coming from a polk csi30 its alot better. the enclosure is twice the size... I made custom chucks to raise the rear of the center so to point it towards the listening erea, simple but they work just need to be painted black, lOL

I had a 7 tier spindel type bookshelf from the Bomba company that I use on my Sony 57". All I did was used a single shelf but I attached 2 bookshelf brackets upside down which gve me the tilt I needed at the back of the shelf. Put another way... the bracket has the shape of an "L" and the base of the "L" becomes the rear riser. If I recall the bracket is about 5" wide by 8" long.

It actually looks nice and passed the "WAF".

I hope my explanation is sufficient?

to answer your blown speaker quesiton, No they have you send in the speaker only. I read on another board someone had that problem. The cust serv is excellent tooo. It would be a pain to send the whole thing in.
